We all perfectly know that we have to find the way to score with the actual squad, as we all perfectly know that we cannot buy a strong striker unless we sell one of our high earners and high payed players, which won't happen as they are underperforming and no one would buy them at their actual wages. Ayew scored 11 goals for Swansea last season which is a good record considering Swansea were a struggling side that got relegated. He scored in both games against us and even scored against Arsenal !

so often when putting a ball across the box, or looking to put one in, there is no one making a run into the box so there are no options. That is down to coaching. When we are set-up like we were yesterday, there needs to be some responsibility on the midfield to make those runs. It's no wonder we can't score a goal when we have so few people willing to get into goal scoring positions to receive a cross

Danny Welbeck is the answer...perhaps along with Defoe; but Welbeck will offer the team more and score a greater variety of goals than Defoe would. As a pairing they'd be good.

Who here actually has confidence in the ability of our club to identify and sign a half-decent striker?

Haha, if you listen to Parish on FYP he thinks we have a great squad and rates Sorloth highly by saying after a pause “he had a good game vs west brom”. Can’t help but think about Glenn Murray. Meyer and Kouyate are good signings but contrast that to Rakip, Jach and Sorloth, and you probably have your answer. News flash, benteke has been awful for over 14 months, but we don’t address it. Signing Ayew and Sorloth is not good enough. Now Roy is back to not playing a striker but without RLC it doesn’t have the same dynamism.

We seem to get players in that aren’t match fit or take ages to get to know the way we play. If we decided on someone, whoever it is, Defoe , Lorentte. If they aren’t currently appearing at all for their club, could we get them in before the window, to train with us , so as soon as the window /loan window opens theyd be bang up to speed? I know we might have to suffer a few weeks wages before they would be ready, but could be worth it.

That some are putting all hope (me included )in someone who hasnt played for two years more or less says we have no confidence at all .

I got a list of players who are under the 20M price tag. -Bas Dost I think one of these guys along with Christian, Wilf and Andros would be one of the scariest attacks in the prem

It's not just the striker. We need the midfield to chip in more. Townsend should score more, macarthur had had chances and Luka was top scorer last season.

But tended to play on the left, not as a target man that he's being asked to play for us. Personally I'd drop townsend, put wilf right and Ayew left. Might also give townsend a kick up the a***e too.

Absolutely,my view entirely. Benteke who has only scored a solitary goal since January, and that being a penalty, and Wickham who had been out since the season before last and who could break down at any moment and be out for a prolonged period once again. Problem is that goalscorers of any pedigree cost a great deal of money and we aren't going to be shopping at the high-end stores. Good point. That is why you have to be wary at taking a punt with strikers at lower fees and ending up with a number of mediocre ones. High stakes but the probabilities of success are usually but not always greater. Unfortunately you don't win games without scoring unless you are playing against John Terry, Tony Popovic or Lee Dixon who may oblige for you.
