Do we now push AWB further up let him have a go in midfield. Yes he is by far our best RB but when you see him going forward he has something there. I think he could flourish with Zaha out for a while and what have we got too lose.

yes, AWB right wing, Ward right back, Townsend left, got to be worth a go

Not good news, Zaha’s just been withdrawn from the Ivory Coast squad due to an Adductor injury, apparently it takes about a month to recover! We’re doomed... Not convinced. Sky reported this two days after Wilf came home which, I saw a tweet about was agreed following the win that saw the IC qualify His Instagram showed him at the training ground on Monday with his leg being checked over & yesterday he was shoe shopping up town. He may be injured but simply accepting the guff that SSN put out isn’t a good idea - they were implying that the bin dippers have half their first team injured in these internationals last night. If it’s just a knock then maybe a rest this weekend will see him ok for the big game s coming up. If not, it gives others the chance to step up & show us (and themselves) they’re not a one man team. Failing that, SP might see what’s needed in January.

Everton haven't started brilliantly, so this could have been a game where he could have made a real impact. Unless we massively up our game we are going to struggle with or without him anyway. I know he hasn't exactly set the world on fire, but Kaikai scored in preseason in more than one game and scored a good goal the other night, so maybe he has earned a chance to step up? Mind you, I do kind of feel that I'm straw clutching these days.

I didn't say this would be my preference, just a likely scenario given Ayew is really more of a wide forward and Sorloth does tend to get on the pitch in most games. Interestingly, a player many were calling for has also had a disappointing time of it since joining Everton. Tosun signed for Everton for £27 million and to date has scored 6 goals, leading to calls to send him back to Turkey. [Link] It does show how hard it is to find the right striker. I'd suggested Mitrovic before he even joined Fulham on loan, but it could have gone eithr way with his temperament. Aside from him and Murray there are not many strikers catching the eye (in terms of goals) away from the so-called big teams.

No time like the present to start preparing for life without Wilf IMO. Sad how we all have a melt down as soon as he can't play ... highlighting our over reliance on the 1 player! If we can't win without him then TBH we don't deserve to stay up. It's a team support after all ... Let's see how good Roy & Ray Lew really are now eh!

I quite fancy PVA on the wing. He's got goals and assists in him and Schlupp isn't far inferior as a full back

Ayew could play wide with Sorloth in the middle. Or Ayew and Sorloth as a front two (although unlikely against top opposition). Would like to see this given a fair chance. We need to find a new way of playing anyway so might as well experiment.
