It wasn't a couple, it was an "activist". And it cost the taxpayers an arm and a leg, not him. "Questions will now be asked as to whether the Equality Commission was right to spend more than Ł250,000 of public money on this case." As I typed the last sentance I did wonder if we - the tax payers- were paying but then discounted it. Someone at the Equality Commission.

Slightly different. What is surprising is that the couple concerned made such an issue of it. There are other bakers! Some people are unbelievable full of their own importance and sense of entitlement. Hope the case cost them an arm and leg No!!! Don’t say that. Before you know it they’ll be trying to order a cake that promotes disability rights.

Next thing you know you'll have people arguing if liking fish sticks is gay.

I agree common sense has won in the end,but I do wonder if they had gone in to a Muslim bakery if it had even made the news.

Do you mean that a Muslim baker wouldn’t have been prosecuted for refusing to decorate a cake with a pro-gay marriage message whereas a Christian baker was? Why do you think that? I agree with you that the ruling is common sense. If it had gone the other way (ooh er missus) a Christian baker wouldn’t be able to refuse a Muslim who wanted a cake that said “The Pope is a Cvnt” and a Muslim baker wouldn’t be able to refuse a Christian who wanted a cake that said “Mohammed svcks boys” etc etc
