And in doing so, he’s demonstrating that he doesn’t understand which team he’s a member of. I’ll give him a reminder: It’s ‘Europe vs USA’ and not ‘European Union vs USA’. If it was the latter, then this would be the last Ryder Cup for him and his fellow UK golfers.

That was some chip by Justin Rose ! The other pairings need to find some form though.

In the real world we probably have alot more in common with the US than other European countries. If they started a European football team and played the best team from South America or ROW, it might be interesting but I wouldn't get particularly excited about it Edited by Pussay Patrol (28 Sep 2018 2.11pm)

If we as the UK are grouped with Europe, just as when as England are grouped with GB or the UK, that's who I support. You don't have to turn into a flag waving nutcase just because that's the label of the team you're backing. And as far as the Ryder Cup goes it's more that we as GB invited and accepted Ireland to join up in the 50s and latterly for the rest of Europe to join us.

The Ryder Cup only became an equal competition when it became with a European team, before we had very limited success. Memories of those missed putts from a foot are glued in my memory, Peter Alliss et al!
