Really? How many? From what I remember, we suprised Chelsea with it and beat them , can't remember us scoring a load of goals, otherwise surely we would have stuck with it. Finished last season like it Leicester 5 Brighton 3 Huddersfield 2 Stoke 2 all with Eilf and Andros up top

I for one wanna see us revert to the 442 system we played against Leicester last season at home with Wilf & Townsend up Top running all over the gaff, causing utter havoc. Meyer can come in on the left where Loftus-Cheek player and Mccarthur on the right. Kouyate and Luka in the middle. The thing I liked most about that system was it was so interchangeable and fluid in attack, throughout the course of a game. And allowed Loftus-Cheek, Townsend and Wilf to rotate and really get creative. So far this season, in my opinion the football we’ve reverted to playing has been utter dog s***. Yet in the system I refer to, with no recognisable striker, we played some of the best football we’ve ever played. High intensity, intricate, exciting, a nightmare to defend. All whilst having 2 banks of 4 when defending, so not easy to beat either. Bring it back Roy.

At the beginning of the season I hoped that this wouldn’t be the case, but at the moment Zaha and Townsend do look the best option as a front pair.

Going with Wilf and Andros up front gives a space for Meyer. This would seem the best solution.

Bit harsh on Sorloth, may have played 9/20 games, but how many minutes did he play? A player, especially a young one from another league, needs z run of games and personally I think there's more chance if him scoring goals after a run in the side, than Ayew, who really doesn't seem to suit the way we play. You must be watching a different game to me. Ayew was decent against Newcastle. Sorloth looks like he’s won a competition to play premier league football. So, so out of his depth.

Unfortunately I agree. That run down the left when Townsend just looked at him as if to say where the f*** are you going sealed it for me

Whilst I agree on Sorloth and am not suprised to see that a striker who failed here in Holland can not cut in in the PL, can I ask you what made you think Ayew had a decent game? There was some "token running" when Newcastle was in possession but when we had the ball he was a static as Benteke without the areal presence. Originally posted by the.universal

He's a passer who relies on his technical ability rather than physical attributes - he simply can't burst forward with the ball like RLC because he doesn't have the strength and pace. You have to wonder if there's a big disconnection between Roy and the transfer team, because instead of getting an RLC replacement who can carry the ball down the left and therefore fit Roy's 4-4-2 system, we've bought a big, dynamic midfielder who plays through the centre in Kouyate and an intricate little passer whom Roy is struggling to fit into the team at all.

But that’s the point with a player like Meyer. His technical ability will more than make up for his lack of physical attributes and power. It will potentially bring us even more with the ability he’ll have to link up with Wilf and Townsend. He changed the game against Southampton when he came on and played a similar role. Same as against Watford. He and Wilf down that left will cause teams absolute nightmares and the system will afford him the license to come centrally too. He was playing far too deep yesterday when he came on. That’s where, in my opinion he will be less effective.
