Classy.

I thought his catchphrase was "now, if you're one of those people" It’s hardly a classic! Definitely not up there with the ‘greats’ such as: Can you hear me, Mother? OK, I’ll get me coat and nurse will get me medication.

And of course Tommy Trinder's "You lucky people" ! My mother-in-law (Now sadly deceased) used to know his brother, whom I think was called Freddie.

He made 2 classic films during the war well worth watching when they pop up on TV. The Foreman Went To France and The Bells Go Down which is my particular favourite.

Couple of twins Debbie and Jackie Bell at Croydon High were popular back in the day with the lads, but didn't know they'd made a film about them.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

One of the giants of British comedy, no doubt. However, his tedious, ponderous rambling between clips on It'll Be Alright On The Night irritated me no end. They could have got three times the number of entertaining snippets on each show without his droning. Other than that, RIP. The glowing tributes are much deserved.
