So you went to St Joseph's College as well.

Nope. It was the seventies. Say no more.
Gene Hunt would be proud.

SJC in the 70s was a hotbed of violence, corruption and perversion. I was there - it taught me all I know.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Who remembers slimey Jo?

I am presuming this is a nickname for a teacher.

I recall being confronted by a teacher who said he had it on good authority that his rather uncomplimentary nickname (Which I admit to !) was instigated by 'Yours Truly'.Straight-faced,expressionless I replied words to the effect "Sorry Sir, I have never ever heard you called this". His response was "You are a downright LIAR and you are on detention" !!!! At least I was spared the cane !

There is a lot I could say about my old schools and some of the teachers but I'd rather forget about them.
A bloody disgrace to their profession and a sad indictment of education in the seventies.

Bullies, perverts, criminals and incompetents.

There were a few good ones but they were lost in the cesspit of daily school life.

Sounds like someone was a right little pr@ck teaser..

a kiwi English, geog, history and PE teacher - Mr Woodham, like having Max Keiser or some other deeply cynical surreal comic for a teacher - used to call everyone Trevor, and the class collectively Trevors, took us for rugby training at our catholic school: "God wants you to catch this one Donnelly" and he'd boot the ball into the air. Once none of us wanted to be captain when he was splitting us into two teams, he spread his arms out, wobbled his hands, rolled his eyes skyward and made a chanting noise and then said: " right, I've just had a consultation with Jesus, and the two captains are going to be Trevor and Trevor", pointing at two of us. Different class, and a top teacher, cut out all the bulls***, no work or presentation for appearances, sadly he stood out like a sore thumb, the rest were mediocre, cr*p or either mixed with paedophile tendencies.

Mr Hanson. Built like a brick outhouse. He was a sports teacher.
We were around 8 years old, when Mr Hanson took assembly. Whilst telling everyone they must wear seatbelts, he used his previous employment as a fireman to hit the message home.
He explained he and his crew had been called to a car crash, and found one of the drivers was still conscious in his seat, but had been impaled on the steering column, because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Mr Hanson had to tell the man he was going to be OK, knowing he was beyond saving. And he kept telling the man he was going to get him out, right up until he took his last breath.

5hlt like that stays with you.

Yer there is one f##king a#####e of a teacher, When I went to Monks Hill ( for those of you who don’t know the school is no longer there).
Right from day one he became my class teacher he had it in for me There was an incident of stealing from the local shop and some so called classmate had falsely given this teacher my name over the issue. I repeatedly pleaded my innocence over this matter, but he refused to listen. I had see him after school he told me to place my hands on top of the desk (palms down) and he used one of those big wooden T squares to repeatedly hit across my hands until I owed up.

This same teacher also had the nerve to tell my parents that if he had me for a week he would kick me into shape. At the time I had been off school for 4 weeks with a serious chest infection I had a doctors sicknote which had been taken to the headmaster by one of my mums friends who was a dinner lady at the time to prove my illness. .

I recently heard a member of the teaching profession assert that these days it is not so much as imparting one's subject knowledge but more about crowd control.

And when a teacher contacts parents to report an errant student, parents often take the view "My little Johnny is not like that - it must be the teachers/school's fault" etc etc etc.Not always the case of course but parents sometimes get very defensive about their wayward offspring who is being disruptive and they apportion blame elsewhere.

Indeed, it is the task of teachers to educate and impart knowledge.
It is not their job to teach manners, self-discipline, put name-tags in clothing, supply missing equipment, supply medication.
A noticeable few parents are cvnts. Which is why I gave up teaching.

Mr Hammond, physics teacher at Dartford Grammar School. Horrible man.

He used to run first year football one lunch break a week, had a habit of loitering around the showers with a spray container of water.
