Great. So we didn’t bring him on v Watford when a change was needed but now we can’t play him v Swansea, albeit because Swansea don’t want us to. Why are we playing Sunday and then Tuesday anyway? That cup run we’ve been tipped to go on could be over very early. Couldn't we play Ayew but with a Benteke mask?

The way Ayew treated Swansea going on strike I am not surprised they have blocked him from playing tonight....

Swansea fans are saying their squad is so thin that they can't afford to risk many first-teamers tonight. Also: "

I think it would be sensible for Roy to try out Kouyate as a center back. He is supposed to be able to play in that position and, depending on how serious Tomkins injury is, we are one injury or suspension away from having to play him or Riedewald in the prem. I didn't rate Riedewald in that position when he played there before (although he looks like a reasonable midfielder) - So it would be good to know if Kouyate is a viable stand in.

Still, not impressed that Swansea have nixed it. Wouldn't we have done the same if it offered us an advantage

Swans made it pretty clear that Ayew can't play against them when on loan. Standard loan language, so it's weird Roy made a thing of it. Did he think he could say "pretty please" and Swans would say, "ok, forget about the contract". Odd. They also said they asked for Tuesday, and Palace could have asked for Wednesday and gone to the EFL for a decision. But Palace didn't. That indicates to me that Roy was more concerned about Saturday (and the few starters he'll field today). Still strange he raised these as issues. More interesting will be who Roy puts on the bench, and whether he puts on strong subs if we are still tied or behind second half.

Wow puncheon is getting a start. Thought we might see pape. Will be good to get a long look at Meyer and Kouyate, and see what Iniss is all about. Can Sorloth knock one in? Would do him a world of good.
