People are going to hate this, but I honestly think we did well last season in spite of Roy, not because of him. Games like this are won and lost on making effective changes early. Roy either forgets or doesn't believe the subs will make a difference, it's just not good enough from a top manager. We need a manager who can make some bold decisions a bit earlier on. We should have got at least a draw today. Bentecke should be off. Why play him when Ayew scored 10 goals last season? There is no rationale. Giving Bentecke can come on from the bench to score. He doesn't have a right to start games anymore, it's f***ing shocking that he starts.

One wonders how often Benteke scores in training. At this point, I think Roy probably believes CB's value lies in drawing attention from the opponents' best defenders, leaving our other players open for chances. On the final corner, Ward was as well marked as I was. Edited by CT Charlie (27 Aug 2018 1.09am)

My only concern is there "appears" to be no consideration of who we are playing against when selecting the team(and I say appears because we tend to see identical line ups for each match) . Unless Kouyate is looking seriously garbage in training then surely the management knew yesterdays game was going to be hotly contested match. We lost the ball in 50:50's far too often and surely the addition of Kouyate to the middle of the park would have helped. I would have gone with this forward six Luka But.... I aint the manager so I guess we have to trust in his decisions.

You think any average manager could have come in and ended up on 44 points playing decent football?

Just to clear it up guys, Ayew is not match fit cuz he's a sulky t*** and bunked off pre-season with Swansea - that's why he's not being fielded at the moment. Before the match Roy said ayew, kouyate and Meyer all fit and ready to play a part, which makes even less sense to leave them out, Meyer excluded but that was too late to win the match. Look.what he did in the he short time he was on
