You happen to be incorrect. The clue is in the name transfer window. Free agents can be signed at any time during the season. Edited by Painter (15 Aug 2018 1.03pm)
A free agent could be signed but not played in EPL until next Transfer Window

I don't think we do either, but as they haven't been published I cant say for certain. If we do, or anyone else does, they can add free agents to the squad. We don't know if Williams, for example, has been named in our one as he wasn't in Saturday's match day squad.

Yeah, but if a player from those 25 (say Williams or Puncheon) leaves to the Championship, then you'd have a free place in the 25 men squad. Couldn't you then sign a free agent (on the condition that he was free before the transfer window closed)?

From the same Article: "Changes can only be made to their squad list during a transfer window, meaning clubs will have to wait until January to register any more players after today. But, in special circumstances, clubs can request changes with the permission of the Premier League Board. Although the transfer window shuts at 5pm today in England, Premier League clubs are still able to sell and loan players abroad until the European window shuts on August 31. With changes to squads certain to extend past today's deadline, the Premier League will publish each club's 25-man squad list on September 1." As with Flamini, if Palace signed a FA, they'd have to get permission to add him from the squad (which I assume is more of less a rubber stamp, unless work permits are an issue). I count our squad at 25+AWB, so we'd have to move someone out beforehand.

Edited by Painter (15 Aug 2018 1.03pm) But only if they had been released by their club before the end of the Transfer Window. In terms of the change to the PL Transfer Window (Shutting early) we were one of the few clubs who didn't vote for this change.Steve Parish,as ever, displayed a lot of sense.

There are also players like Ryan Innis who is 23 so they count too. the rule is that 24 hours after deadline day squads must be sent to Premier League naming a maximum of 25 players over 21. if club has less than they may take free agents but only if there are not 25 senior players including the injured. I think we have 26 This mess up I think will mean deadline day next year will not be different to Europe and will also include loans Edited by Palace in the Blood (15 Aug 2018 7.45pm)
