Not answering your question but I have been photographed next to two Palacio de Cristal signs in Spain and one in Portugal. Always on the look out for them now!

I think there's one in Madrid.

"Espanyol" Barcelona's second club always makes me chuckle. Literally translated, it means "Spanish".
And is supported by what Barca fans call immigrants, i.e. " Spanish "

Always had a soft spot for those odd Victorian sounding Names; Corinthian Casuals, that sort of thing. Hamilton Academicals...jumpers for goal posts, hmmm? Then theres my favourite abbreviation, A.S. Beauvais-Oise = ASBO. Bradford Park Avenue, just makes me think of flat caps, meat pies and cheap fags.

Winning isn't everything. Without the defeats we would not value the victories. Still, it's a shame we can't play Chelsea every week.

Didn't Espanyol name originate from wanting to differentiate themselves from Barcelona who were set up by foreigners and were full of foreign players so they called themselves Spanish. Then Franco and the civil war kicked off and everyone supported Barcelona for Catalan pride. I've always thought if someone at the original meeting of Espanyol had suggested Catalan as a name they could have become the biggest team in the world

One supporter of hacking argued that without it "you will do away with the courage and pluck of the game, and I will be bound to bring over a lot of Frenchmen who would beat you with a week's practice -Blackheath secretary at first meeting of the F.A

As far as I know- Espanyol was the first club in Spain to be formed exclusively by Spanish fans of the game. The Spanish from Andalusia came to Catalonia to work and settle down and were/are called immigrants by the Catalans.
Their original name i believe was "club de espanola"

There’s a team in Bolivia called The Strongest. Evidently it’s something to do with a famous battle in that country during the 1930’s.

don't these South American teams have English names in honour of the Brits who helped them shake off the Spanish yoke? I think there's an Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton in Chile, I know there's a O'Higgins FC named after some swashbuckling liberator (bit like Michael Caine and Sean Connery in The Man who would be King - awesome film btw). Should have done a google check but can't be bothered.

There's definitely an Arsenal in Argentina.
