But his form (bar one epic knock in the ashes) of the last year has been appalling. And, as you have pointed out, his technique against off spin seems to be shot. Says more about how few top order options we've got coming through county cricket at the moment. In agreement regrettably as I have nothing but total respect for Cook given what he has achieved to date but India now know how to play him with another 4 tests to go.

One too many wickets fell yesterday and today has just been a complete mess. I hope the bowlers can do something to dig us out of this with both bat and ball. Starting a test match on a Wednesday in the modern era is f***ing daft. Edited by Stuk (03 Aug 2018 1.13pm)

England came from 1 behind to win the one day series and they will have to repeat it. Plenty to play for 4 tests to go. We should review test matches being played at Edgbaston if they cannot provide a 5 day wicket IMO. Actually could we win this one, not entirely ruling anything out if it swings around on a s***e pitch.

Well 194 to win and 2 days plus this session to come, for India. Curran scored over 60, England only 1 spinner. Looks straightforward. Or is it. That's test cricket still the best IMO. Just think with those 46 runs leaked by England thru having no 3rd man, that would put them 240 ahead, that would be a difficult chase.

It's going to be an exciting morning tomorrow and I think that a lot will depend on the weather. The forecast is quite good which is exactly what we don't want as we need a gloomy overcast day

Kohli and co should nurdle their way to win via 3rd man (it is still happening). Root must go into the slips. Still an outside chance for us, if only they had an extra 50 runs that they just gifted away. They can still turn the series round if they lose this one, it is early and conditions should change. The change from limited overs to test match does seem to take England a little time and India manage that better. COYE Come on you England
