A fantastic deal for Palace, and of all the defensive midfielders we have been linked with (Gonlans, De Souza, the young lad from Liverpool)Kouyate has been the one out of them I hoped we would get. Has been a very solid and dependable midfielder with a proven Premier League record so we know what we are getting so not as risky as bringing in someone from abroad and hoping they can adapt and settle. West Ham fans have lamented his effort recently. However, that may have more to do with him being unhappy at WHU since one of their staffs rather ill advised comments about African players. I hope he’s not a snowflake.

I'm happy with this, its a low risk signing as he has been prem proven and a snip at 9.5m imo. Parrot I’m not sure he’s a hidden gem - more a polished one. Multiple league winner in Belgium plus established Premier league and international player. Has already played alongside both Luka and Pape and a good age at 28. I’m happy with this as well.

I like him. He adds height and athleticism to the midfield and alongside Luka should make it very hard to break us down. Plus as he can play centre-back he can fill in if necessary now that Delaney and Jach have gone, and will be more effective at defending set-pieces than Cabaye, and probably more effective at attacking them too. In today's inflated market seems a very good deal at under £10m. Well done Steve, Roy, Dougie & Co.

Nope not worried at all Baldy old son, just made an honest mistake. As you were !! I made the same mistake! Thankfully common sense appears to have prevailed. Pleased with this signing. Always thought he looked good when I've seen him play.

According to a West Ham mate, his nickname is 'Wiley', as in Coyote, from the Roadrunner cartoon! Not sure if that was just their name for him, or if it's followed him around.

You're right - That's just how he posted it to me and I guess how you say it. I loved that cartoon!

the west ham fans i spoke to are very happy to get rid of him and keep antonio. i asked why and most of them said he hasn't performed for few seasons he is almost hitting 30 and the players they have in look far better. i think we went for wrong guy antonio should of been te one but if rumors are true and this deal is 9-11m i suppose its not too bad of a risk.

I agree that kouyate in the last 2 visits to Selhurst hasn’t looked impressive in the slightest and neither has he on tv. But we’ve an excellent coaching manager capable of man managing players that West Ham fail to do so hopefully he’ll be back to his better days in a couple of months.
