Very suprised to see some say he was better on the wing. I don't think he was and wouldn't suit our current setup on the wing. It's not his playing style to take players on down the byline, often wanting to cut back in, slow the pace and play a simple pass or cross from deep. Lacks pace to beat a fullback for pace and lacks the dribbling skill to trick his way past. He is sometimes successful with driving runs and his effort to get stuck in. These traits actually made him a better central player then a wide player in my opinion and up to the FA Cup Final he did very well in the center of our midfield. From then on it spiraled downhill for him and actually the enforced break may well have done him the world of good. Only time will tell but has the fresh start and potential ability to still do a good job for us.

He only did well under Pullis. Why is this it is simple really Pullis played rigid system so punch spent most times defending on that side and then counter attack this was it so very easy to learn and do. he doesn't have the brain to play in middle. At the end of the day he is another one of those because he is from the area he is kept we need to stop this throughout the club there is deadwood who cares about ties to the club you want the best for the role/job

I always felt he was too slow in possession, he often thought he had more time on the ball than he actually did. So frequently, losing possession. Unless he can speed up his game, then he is a liability.

Not at all, no. Punch was good for us about 3 seasons ago, he had good technical ability, scored some great free kicks, and was a good passer of the ball. Then he turned into Owen Garvan, but slower, and started waving his arms around like a helicopter all game. He does have one thing in common with Gazza though as they both did themselves major injuries by trying to foul other players.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

it's a no from me. His last decent run out was the Cup Final. And even before then he blew hot and cold. Since then he's done nothing in the Red n Blue to merit a return.

I’ve certainly missed him picking up the ball spinning around and passing it backwards. Plus the pointing at random parts of the pitch was a sight to behold.

At 32 surely his best days are behind him. I can’t see him getting a look in unless we have another injury crisis.
