Why is this formation not sustainable going forward. I thought it resulted in some of the best football I have ever seen played by a Palace team in the near 50 years I have been watching. Let’s also see who we bring in. If playing without a recognised striker is the next 'thing' in football then Roy is lightyears ahead of Pep and co, who are still favouring centre forwards. Gosh what dinosaurs. It may have produced some great football, but it's sad that we have to resort to a makeshift system because we can't sort out our well-known personnel issues.

Striker options: Option 1. Convey ‘exhibit a’ (ball) in to ‘exhibit b’ (onion bag) and everyone will be happy, Option 2. Fail to convey exhibit a in to exhibit b and everyone will be unhappy, but you won’t be dropped (all that much) because the alternatives are either injured or are even worse than you are.

I reckon that teams will learn to play against the no strikers tactic before too long. So I agree that this is not sustainable in the long term. I also reckon that we will sign another striker before too long, and Benteke will come good this season. So no need for doom and gloom.

Options are: Zaha Zaha is already on fire and looking to carry his end of season form in to the new year. Wickham appears to have his worse days behind him. Kaikai is scoring for fun so should definitely make the squad. Sørloth got a goal and some good words from Wilf after about effective partnership forming. Benteke is Benteke... I’d rather stick with those 5 than take a loan and help finish someone else player. Get the midfield right and these 5 should be left to fight it out between them I say.

It will be interesting to see if they start Wickham against Toulouse after what sounds like a good hour in the Boreham Wood game Hard to see any of Sorloth, Wickham or Benteke lasting the full 90 minutes against Fulham

There’s no point spending money on any more strikers, we’ve got enough already.

Zaha, in the past year is the only person to show he can cut it and he wasn't even our top scorer. Sure, we can have too many strikers, but we can never have enough good ones.
