He has a lot to do to impress Roy and little time to do it. One thing that has surprised me about Roy is that he doesn't seem especially sentimental and he also seems willing to speak out when he thinks someone isn't good enough. Everyone within the club speaks so highly of Williams that if he could somehow find his way into the matchday squad and stay fit then I think he could have a positive effect on and off the pitch. I don't think it's likely though and expect to see him go back out on loan or be sold.

I'm not being funny but injury aside - if we've been play the likes of Lee Chong Yung and Jordan Much then there's definitely room for Williams. We've got to start giving these guys a go: Williams and Win Bassako

Wan Bissaka deserves what he deserves on merit. He's worth chucking in. Unlike others, I've not written off Williams' career. But this season, for us, seems highly improbable. he needs to trust his own body for one thing. that'd take a whole season for starters.

He played on loan last season so must be over that by now. By the looks of things in the transfer market, looks like he will play a bit this season. We can judge him then.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jonniesta was a real victim of Palace's success. If we hadn't have got promoted in the year we did he would have had another season at the right level for him to develop with us. that didn't happen though and I think he will remain like Bostock resigned to one of the Palace `could have beens` one event/decision changed everything for him. Probably the only one associated at Palace who looks at that Phillips penalty and thinks what could have been. Edited by Mwncisee (24 Jul 2018 5.02pm)

We can judge him then. he spent a lot of time injured. wiki says he played 12 games for them, which is about what I'd have thought. whatever you think of him -- and i don't have a downer on him, i remember seeing him once and thinking he was class-- he needs to play at least 30 games in a season, overcome some physicality...then maybe the season after that he'd feel like he could play without reticence and with the fitness of a battle hardened pro. I simply don't buy that he'd have that confidence in his own physicality yet. im romantic enough to hope though!

"Played" is a relative term when it comes to Williams isn't it? He appeared in 12 Championship games, spending a total of 557 minutes on the pitch and one FL Cup game where he played 27 minutes:
