Jordan Ponticelli of Coventry City is tipped to break into their team this season and may have a great future.

However, even if we were to buy players like this I cannot see them being given a chance in the first team.

This is professional football not Sunday league where all the players are a group of mates from the pub. We aren't interested in keeping players happy unless they bring something to the team.

Team harmony and culture is a big part of success. I'd say keeping players happy and like they're contributing is important.

Looks like Darren Bent has been released by Derby according to Sky's list of unassigned players. He's only 34, has good premier league plus international experience. He's probably lost a bit of his pace but could be a good and cheap clinical finisher and first choice striker. He knows where the goal is.

If he's that good why have Derby released him?

Isn't this why we have a network of scouts, along with a Chief Scout? Anyhow, not just the lower leagues we should be looking at. Brighton recently identified and secured South Africa's Percy Tau for £3m, a record for a South African player.

Tau, an attacking midfielder, was voted Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year here in South Africa. A promising find. There are other Percy Tau's out there!!

Honestly don't think we need any. We've got Benteke, Wickham and Sorloth all vying for what's sure to be one position. (Assuming Sako is going). And if we do play two up top, it's like to be Wilf alongside one of them.

That's a lot of strikers to keep happy.

If there was a guarantee Wickham was a) healthy and b) able to rediscover his form it’s fine. However if he doesn’t then you’ve got an injured Wickham, Benteke (who was awful last year) and Sorloth who all preseason and in a couple games last year looks pony. Huge gamble.

Personally I’d love to see Wickham starting as think he’s the best we have and could have developed into a sneaky wonderbuy. However no games since 2016 days that’s a lot to hang hopes on.

As it stands we’re crossing our fingers that Christian can’t be as bad as last year again.

He might work out well for Brighton but starring in mediocre leagues isn’t a guarantee of success. Sorloth looks mustard up in the frozen tundras but has looked like a deer in headlights here.
