No idea what Ollie is like however if we cannot afford a top class striker then I think we should be realistic. If he gets 10 goals at a cost of £8mm I would say that is a fair return.

acc to hltco he wud be a replacement for Sako, if townsend goes for big bucks and we get Watkins + Antonio + maybe that left-sided Uruguay player (Laxalt) than our wingers are sorted - two big holes replacing RLC and Yoyo though - and no sign of them being adequately filled, there may be another Wan bissaka waiting in the wings, Jairo can step up, but the squad is looking worryingly thin in midfield - last year it was three from four (Luka, Yoyo, Mcarthur, RLC) with back up in Jairo and Schlupp - we may use Schlupp more in the middle this season and he did well there on occasion like at home v Man U, but we still need two front line replacements for Cabaye and RLC - if we got another loan year out of RLC that would be the best thing that could happen over the summer window, but it's not likely sadly.

For what it's worth, my Exeter-supporting friend (where Watkins developed and played before moving to Brentford) said they played him through the middle as a No. 10 or No. 9. My friend says he's not super pacy, but is smart and good on the ball. Maybe he is a winger, but at least can play in the middle if needed (unlike Antonio).

These types of signings excite me, young players on their way up! He’s scored a lot of goals for his age too!

He's a very good player with lots of potential. Strong and skilful. Seen him several times for Exeter City. By no means the finished article but Roy and his team can work on that. Very encouraging if he can be landed at Palace.

Antonio can play through the middle just fine. Most of his goals came from headers while he was playing centrally. Ollie Watkins....I don't know....maybe he'll further develop, but in this moment I wouldn't pay 8 million for him.

My Torquay supporting mate tells me he’s the only Exeter player he’d admit was any good - reckons he’s got something about him that few have. Reads the game brilliantly for a young ‘un. Worth a shot at the right money I guess.
