I think that they should keep the groups as they were as IMO it is stupid to make the existing groups open to both sexes. But create another for boys and girls. That way everyone would be happy.

It was an option....but who is honestly shocked about how it went.

Not me. Too much of this happening. It seems a common sense solution to these things is beyond the people who feel strongly that things need to change.

Storm in a teacup.

This was driven by girls wanting to join the Scouts. There was a demand so the organisation met it. They are a volenteer run group and it has helped them thrive.

Was there any demand from boys to join the guides? Not for the years when my wife ran the local group.

If you want an all boys club then try certain branches of the masons or various Muslim groups (Oh hang on various of those moaning about this also moan about Muslims don't they.....gotta love a bit of irony!

Don't think they have those for 7-14 year olds, do they?. Besides, young boys need a bit more in the way of excitement and challenge than learning funny handshakes and even funnier ritual dialogues.

Apologist with a convoluted understanding of irony.

Scouts/Guides???

It's over. It's all surely over. At last! Huzzah! We made it. It was painful and harrowing but we made it! Praise the Heavens; there surely now can be nothing whatsoever left to moan about.

("Girls" has more letters in it than "boys", by the way. That ain't right. "Guides" more than "Scouts" too. If you misspell Scouts. Which the obvious lezzing man-haters definitely do if you let 'em. Which all the 'kin beta males do.)

So you think that policy should be decided by demand?
That could go badly.

and your reference to Muslims leaves me wondering if there has been a gas leak near your residence.

Yep, according to this genius despite the girl guides doing everything that the boy scouts do if a girl wants to join the boy scouts......well they have to change the name and let them join.....because you know....feminism.

Boys have actually tried to join the girl guides.

But you know double standards are just a 'storm in a teacup' init mate.

There's always a chuckle brother somewhere.

So a boy has applied and the Daily Mail huffs and puffs about it.

Still a non story and the righteous indignation of a few on here as usual delight in sharing their indignation on these boards and slag anyone off who decides to comment against their views.

Feminism is not cancer by the way csncer is something very different.

These boards are now increasingly so far from the boards I joined that maybe its not worth it any more

Feminism is cancer.

I missed this when it happened but now I have two small boys and I saw that someone mentioned the 'girl guides'. So I was decided to look at the boy scout's website for something for them to do in a few years.

Guess what I find? They have dropped the boy from the hundred year old 'boy scouts' and girls can join.

[Link]

However, when you look at the organisation 'girl guides', which was conceived as the same type of organisation a year later but just for girls....guess what. No name drop and the Boys can't join.

[Link]

They should have left it alone. There is nothing wrong with the sexes having their personal spaces in their formative years.

But no, it has to be one rule for the feminists and another for the males.

So where exactly on the Scouts website does it state 'we have changed our name due to those awful feminists'? I can't seem to find that information. Surely it can't just be your own unsubstantiated opinion?

So you expect the site's website to detail this.

God knows what Robert Baden-Powell would think of you lot.
