Are you denying player "prices" or "values" in England are completely totally hyper inflated? The fact that the increase in TV revenue has mainly gone into players pockets does not mean those players have gotten better.

And I am not loaded with sympathy for the Germans but your last comment beggars belief. They are World Champions and if you look at their recent history.... Well apart from yesterday then

Using your oh so reliable numbers let’s put that into context. England (13) were knocked out by Iceland (22) & Germany (1) knocked out by Korea (57).

So clearly being beaten by a team 9 places behind you in the rankings is better than being beaten by one 56 below.

If, and it’s a big IF, these German players are that good there’d be scouts & bigger clubs all over them. They would also be more prominent in the national set up which has rocked up at the WC finals with a squad made up mostly of players past their best.

Disagree.
Bayern tops every PL team.
Leverkusen= Tottenham (check out their Champions League matches if you don't believe me)
Borussia Dortmund is pretty much capable of the same great results and bad losses as Liverpool
Hoffenheim (with Gnabry), 3rd this year >> Arsenal
RB Leipzig (with Werner)>> a lot of teams, even passed Napoli in the Europa League this year. Beat FC Porto 3-1 and Monaco 4-1 in the Champions League. I sincerely doubt a team like Chelsea would beat them.

The last 3 teams in their league: Wolfsburg, Hamburg and Koln >> Swansea, West Brom and Stoke.

I don't see any difference in favour of the PL between the leagues and if it then it's infinitesimal.

I think your comparisons of the clubs are way off - you also haven't made direct comparisons (ie 3rd place compared with 3rd place). Why do you match Hoffenheim (3rd) with the 6th best team in England?

To suggest Dortmund are anywhere near as good as Liverpool is bonkers.

Didn't Spurs last player Leverkusen in 2016? So it's not reasonable to say Leverkusen are a better team based on one tie 2 years ago - Spurs played Dortmund off the pitch over two legs last season.

If we're doing a fair comparison;

Bayern v City is close - Bayern probably edge it, but not a great deal in it.

United are better than Schalke.
Spurs are better than Hoffenheim
Liverpool are better than Dortmund
Chelsea are better than Leverkusen
Leipzig probably edge Arsenal based on the last couple of years, but don't expect that to last.

As I said in my previous post, the quality of the teams can certainly be contested, but in terms of competitiveness, it's not even close.

Both leagues are very competitive, with very good players. Didn't mean to offend any nation by it.

Grifo just did more than Townsend and cost 5 million, while the latter is valued at 30 million (and Newcastle might actually pay that).

That's all I've been trying to say.

No offence caused; it's an interesting point to discuss.

No disagreement from me that the finances are massively inflated in the Prem and you can find far better value elsewhere.

That Leroy Sané must be rubbish then as he didn't even make that poor squad

Sane is very very good, has been spotted & picked up by one of the bigger teams in Europe which underlines what I said, if these players in the bundesliga are that good, the big boys with their connections, scouts etc would normally have found them already.

FIFA rankings are a rough guideline at best. Going into this World Cup Switzerland were ranked 6th, ranking them ahead of the likes of France and Spain.

I know, that was part of my point i.e. using meaningless ratings/stats to argue a player must be better than another is fundamentally flawed. It’s really no genuine means of measuring ‘worth’ especially across different leagues - when Everton signed Tosun his stats, in the same league, were considerably worse than Gomis & Adebayor - I know which of those three I’d rather have at my Club - yet, quite rightly, the statistically poorer player went for close to £30m

That's because Cenk Tosun had 4 goals and 2 assists in the Champions League and he's also like 10 years younger than Adebayor and Gomis

Ok....soooo, the league with the national team eliminated by Iceland at the Euros is better why??

...because its teams play harder for longer EVERY match is competitive...not like in Scotland/Spain/Germany where players can take a rest...other than over the Winter of course!
