I am not sure RH rates him. He hardly played him when he first arrived until united allegedly threatened to take him back in January. At the end of the season AWB took right back spot in absence of Ward. Personally I like him but I think the fee United will probably want is too high for us for a bench player. We have other priorities. I think the chances of signing RLC are higher Absolutely no chance of signing RLC after his World Cup performances, he will be looking to go to a Champions League team. TFM jack of all trades, not great at any, not what we need. RH would prefer a specialist in a position.

TFM could easily grow in to a specialist in a position. He’s good for his age. Great squad player with years ahead of him and plenty of potential upside.

He can cover both positions and is only 20 If the price is right might be good depth. Nothing wrong with bang average for a squad player

Even if Ward signs I recon we’ll be after another right back so when Ward does leave we have two proper right backs to close out that position.

I think situation with both ward and Sako fairly similar both are injured and a return date is a way off. Both have been offered new contracts and may not be first team players next year. Both if they were not injured would have offers from other clubs - Wolves for Sako and one of promoted teams for Ward possibly Fulham. My gut feel is Ward will accept but Sako may move on. If Ward signs we have bigger prioritys than right back. Also TFM will be expensive so I can't see him coming as a bench player.

I doubt TFM would be expsensive. United often let players go fairly cheaply. I’d be surprised if £10m doesn’t get him. If he knows his United days are over and wants to be part of Palace. All depends really. And yes of course we have other more important priorities but it would seem and wisely so that Roy wants to get proper cover sorted for all positions. Including right back. TFM would be a great utility squad player and I’d probably even go to £15m to sign him. He can literally provide good cover at RB, CB and DM. And is so young he can grow in to a first team player in the future. Apart from an out and out goal scorer and various players contracts ending we’ve a VERY good first XI. Think this window is about resolving those contracts, improving the squad with options and touchwood finding a goal scorer who fits our team. What I think we need: So yes I think I’d agree we have other more pressing priorities to spend our money on. But do think we should try to retain TFM. He won’t be getting a game next season for United so a loan should suit all. Loan a striker and spend our money on rebuilding our midfield.

if he was available for £10m then he would be a good asset t the squad. just a kid but him jairo, awb we could have a really good back half to the squad for the future.

At 10mill it's a no brainer, he is a great right back and has pace to burn, good in the air and very physical , if joel doesn't sign he would be perfect for that position , even if he does he prob has only a couple of seasons left . A perfect addition to any team imho.

You’ve answered your own question here. £15m and even £10m is still too much for someone who doesn’t make the bench especially when we could be bolstering midfield. And we need to. Loan a striker and spend our money on attacking midfield player who gives us the tingles. Fingers crossed huh?

He was a catastrophe at CB. I suspect he would not be much better at DM. I don't think Roy rates him. This is reflected in how many times he chose him. If Ward stays, he should be cover/rotation. If he doesn't, this must be our number one priority. We have already [albeit tamely] entered a race for a new RB. I am sure we are in for one. Even if Ward does stay, if you want to take the "next step" you need to have a top half back line. PVA has properly stepped up and Tomkins and Sakho have forged a formidable bond. It is only at RB where we have a choice between a good squad player and an impressive but still inexperienced kid. We need one. CB also has to be priority. Dann is crock to the New Year; DD is gone; we have 2 starters and only one back up. Even if it is just a half season loan with an option in January. I rank this need ahead of RB nd just behind central midfield.
