Four of England's top seven average below 40 against county sides.

Root is a fantastic player but no England captain. His decision making is very poor and today's choice to bat first on a day that is overcast and clearly going to favour the bowlers was plain stupid. This is not his first wrong decision and I just think we need to reconsider our options for captain. My worry is the longer he remains captain the more it will start to affect his game. Today he was out for a terrible shot. Maybe rash, but is he starting to feel the pressure already given our recent poor run of results?

pakistan had a plan for their bowlers to bowl a full length and it paid off handsomely for them. Our bowlers bowled a much shorter length and pakistan ended up 50-1.Why oh why did we not do something similar ?. Very disappointing day for England and that all too familiar collapse surprised nobody.Shocking. Edited by Willo (24 May 2018 11.55pm)

Seemingly made on the basis that it's going to be sunny on Sunday and Monday. That's no use if we don't do enough to require pakistan to bat again, and they're almost halfway to our 1st innings total with only one wicket down. On another note, how daft are those pakistani players that went on the field wearing smart watches yesterday? With their previous record.

I keep hearing from pundits about pakistan's "Fragile batting".If they amass a good score then perhaps this says everything about our bowling. Thus far our bowlers have been very unimpressive. But a couple of quick wickets and it could all change.

England deaf to reason bowling too short. Anderson changes ends, bowls a full delivery a wicket straight away. Let's hope Yates holds on in the Giro and makes my day.
