Personally I think talking about Europe or even CL is a recipe for disappointment. Keep Wilf, add a striker and attacking midfielder and I would be happy with a mid table season and hoping for a good cup run.

I agree with the general thrust of these comments.
Personally I would be delighted with a mid-table finish which of course would secure a 7th consecutive season in the PL.Anything else would be a bonus.

That said, I would like a mid-table finish after being relatively safe throughout the season and not such a finish after enduring what we went through this last season !

Just like Ginger said there are too many variables, so at the beginning of the season it was too early to be pessimistic.

[its easy to look back though - I wasn’t brave enough to make any predictions - I told my Watford supporting boss that we’d finish above them, but I wasn’t actually that optimistic ]

Watford at home may have been more defining then the Chelsea win even. that was the moment I started to believe.

We moved out of the relegation zone after this win so this was a celebration in itself.
We followed this with that excellent 3-0 win at Leicester.Back-to-back wins !

Hmmm.

Summer 2017: optimistic because we had Allardyce now and playing well again. What happened: he left, de Boer came in. Toilet.

Summer 2016: optimistic because Pardew had been decent before and with a proper summer and a good bollocking could surely get his s*** together. Plus which he had managed to get to an FA Cup Final so he couldn't be that bad, could he? What happened: he contined to manage like an arse. Toilet.

Summer 2015: optimistic because Pulis had got us to mid-table and things looked stable. What happened: Pulis f***ed off two days before the start of the season and left us scrambling to get Warnock in. Toilet.

Bout time we came back from the Summer and found that we hadn't had some sort of disaster in the close season. Would make a change.

Pulis left in August 2014, so had little effect in Summer 2015.

Quite right; that was Pardew before he went completely tonto.

20 games 30 points
That's pretty much going to ease my stress levels.
From there who knows but 4 wins from 18 games gives you another season
Bring it on

I’m not an expert but it is fairly common practice for companies to extend or miss deadlines such as this. It does raise questions but not ones that businessmen such as our Chairman and Partners aren’t used to. Not that you are but i don’t see anything to worry about. Should we wait until some contracts are ended and others reduced this could play out well for us potentially.

What are the good reasons to be so late?

Time is the most common factor I can think of. More time to get your affairs in order if needed. More time to accrue interest on tax- I do that one over here as I am self employed. Unless of course there are fines and interest going the other way which is possible. As I said I am no expert.

The problem with competing in Europe is that CPFC would need a much bigger pool of talented players. Without that the team can struggle in the Premiership. Still it would be a nice problem to have.

I’ll relax when we can’t get relegated. I still get flashbacks to Oldham.

I think we can push for a Europa league spot next season,no question.

Keep our key players and add to the squad is the way to go.
