Joe Allen is a safe bet. Seems like a true professional as well.. ask Hennessey about his credentials. Would love him in our team!

At this time of the season names are going to be flying around about who’s going to sign who. Speculation is on a high with names linked to every club under sun.
If this report is true then I would snap him up like a shot, I think Allen has a great work rate and would be a great addition to the squad. The thought of Allen,McArthur and Milivojevic midfield would be an improvement. But I can only see this happening if Cabaye leaves given age and reported pay cut to stay.

Not so sure. Both Cabaye and Mac are close to the veteran stage and are unlikely to give us more than 25 full games a season - there'd be plenty of opportunity for Allen not least because he seems a very Hodgson sort of player.

Also, depending slightly on the status of Riedewald we're very light in midfield as I assume Punch is now pretty much out of the picture. It's an area where we need reinforcements and I can easily Allen and maybe someone like Amadou coming in to give us depth in numbers and different options.

Would be a great signing- industrious, tenacious and pretty good on the ball- my choice would be to keep Johan and Jimmy Mac and bring him in to rotate with them- but if Cabaye does go he is an almost perfect like-for-like player

There are sums of 20 million being quoted for Joe Allen. I'm sure for that amount Chelsea could be tempted to let RLC go. I know who I'd prefer see in d team.

oh yeah ,fcuk off brighton.

IMO RLC will be the future of Chelsea, wishful thinking that we'd get him for £20m.

He's potential gonna play for england for the next 10+ years and be a great success.

No way they'd be selling him and certainly not for £20m!

Allen is a great midfielder, so I'm told by a Liverpool supporter.

Would be well worth £20m and would take the pressure of Cabaye to play or try to play 90mins every week.

Good not great and 20m for a squad player thats a lot of money better to spend half that and resign YC for another two seasons.

We do need to have a back up central midfielder. That is a position we are light in - especially as Hodgson doesn't seem to rate Jairo. Allen is 28? Should be peaking now - would be decent cover for YC or even Jimmy Mac. I'd say he surely shouldn't be much more expensive than when he was sold to Stoke for £13m.
