I think it's great that we have strong candidates for POTY. I am old enough to remember seasons when the discussion was about cancelling the event.

Young Player - Loftus Cheek if eligible if not Aaron Wan-Bissaka

POTY - I would be happy with Zaha, Tompkins or Milo with a special mention for Loftus Cheek.

Townsend is also there with 2 goals and 8 assists (FROM OPEN PLAY)

Milivojevic??????????

Took set pieces all year, didn't hit a single assist. Guilty at plenty of goals (the one in the 90th minute against Man United easily comes to mind, but there were others too).

It's like fans here have a fascination with Milivojevic. Decent player but in no way player of the season. Not even a great season if you ask me, just a mediocre one.

Undoubtedly Zaha, Townsend, Tomkins, PVA, McArthur have kept this team up and deserve it a lot more.

This proves once and for all you really do not know what you are talking about. I have supported Palace since 1960 and Luca is one of the most complete footballers I have seen at Palace. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but...

Foook, I'm out of this discussion. The guy has been taking penalties while Zaha has been creating from open play. Can you not see the distinction?

Can you not see that Luca is a DEFENSIVE midfielder whose main job is to break up play!! A job he does extremely well, it is not all about goals and assists. I wonder have you ever seen a live game involving Luca? I doubt it.

Luka has had a decent season, you still need someone to score those penalties and I doubt Benteke would have 10 goals if he'd taken them all.

Tomkins, PVA and Townsend deserves mentions but Wilf wins it hands down. Anyone else winning it would just be because we want to give it to someone different this season.

Young player should be Loftus-Cheek, has played almost all season except when injured. Sorry but can't JUST give it to AWB for playing a few games while Ward was injured and discount Ruben for being a loan player.

So why bring into discussion his goals and assist if we're talking about his contribution as a defensive midfielder?? ))

I was just answering to that question. I've given reasons why he hasn't had a good season: taking set pieces without eficiency, I can also show you goals where he was at fault. Yes, he had some solid matches too. But player POTY? Come on....

I'm giving you solid facts, you're giving me personal opinions. Answer me this: was Milivojevic a good set piece taker this entire year??

You are right of course, but without Wilf we'd have gone down.

Because as a defensive midfielder it's impressive regardless of how many were penalties, i do think Zaha will get it and i'm not trying to belittle the other players contributions they've been equally immense in their own roles, but to write off Luka so easily is disrespectful to him for what he has brought to the table.

The First 90 Minutes Are The Most Important!

What's that per minute?

Not really, no. It's 3 goals and 1 assist without the penalties. Many more defensive midfielders have pulled this off this season

Compare the number of penalties we win (largely because defenders can't handle Wilf) with the number Burnley win and consider where we would be if Benteke were taking them all instead of Milivojevic.

Precisely the point - he's not there primarily to score but his contribution to team has been immense.

Kante is a shoe-in for POTY at Chelsea but has only (gasp!!) 1 goal & 1 assist - he must be toilet then I suppose...........
