Pointless indeed. This all stemmed from an innocuous question which if honestly answered would not even have made the papers. There is nothing wrong in having targets for removing lawbreakers. She then continued to insist she did not know even as the evidence mounted against her until the smoking gun was produced.

In no way could I agree with her politics, but fair play for resigning for misleading Parliament.

There was a day when any politician would follow her example, but look at some of the lies Boris has said and not blinked an eye. Chav politics.

The problem is their target wasn't a sensible remove 100% of lawbreakers, it was remove x number of people irrespective of whether or not they are illegal immigrants. It was a terrible policy and a cruel one as well. It's unsurprising that such a poor and egregious policy has resulted in one of its architects having to resign. It was inevitable that creating an environment obsessed with reducing immigration at any human cost would end up like this. The Nasty Party's nasty policies can backfire!
