We lost to Tottenham because we were forced to make a sub we wouldn't have normally made. Love Damo, but he's past it.

This game however, holding a lead, we should have moved to a 4-5-1, taken Cabaye off who was knackered and brought on Jairo and swapped Bissaka for TFM as we did against Liverpool.

There was nobody else on the bench worthy of setting foot on the pitch really, but those two would have been fine and I'm sure we'd have seen the game out if we had.

We had Kelly on the bench as well as Jairo and TFM any or all who could have been brought on at various times in the last 10 minuets to waste time/break up play. Jairo for Cabaye as he is more defensive minded, TFM for one of Zaha or Townsend and move AWB further forward and even Kelly for RLC and go 5 at the back. In defence/defending a lead our bench has some options.
If however we had been 2-1 down with 5-10 minuets to go I’ll agree our bench looks very very thin and Roy has very few options to change it around and go searching for goals and game changers.

It's rarely that there is a thread on here where I agree with almost every point made, but this is one. Roy, for all his good points, needs to look to himself and ask some questions about why we can't see games out.

Of more crucial importance is the Club`s performance in the last transfer window.
Who was responsible for bringing in the Pole and

If the club`s performance in the window was stronger
then RH would have a better bench to use

What you on about. Kelly, riedewald or souare. 3 defenders that could of closed the game out.

The reason for the late goals is Hodgson's indecision to bring on fresh legs - game after game. 2-1 up with minutes to go, park the bus.

Yes i’d agree with the posts supporting this. We need a park the bus mentality to see games out better and we had defensive options on the bench to do so at the end of this game. Both tfm and Jairo could have sat in front of the back four and just shut everything down.

Personally and I may get slated for this but I would have given Daly a chance at half time. The entire first half I though Wilf and Adros needed some one in the centre. Would he have put those chances away? who knows but I think it would have been worth the risk. Then yes I would have stuck on TFM or someone else towards the end. I sat here practically shouting for Roy to make a change, if nothing else just to waste time

The refusal to make substitutions is annoying although one can’t say for sure that is causing the last minute goals.
All I know is that in recent weeks we have been in winning positions against United, Liverpool and Bournemouth and have only got one point.
We look vulnerable defending corners and free kicks and seem incapable of keeping clean sheets.
Hodgson has done a decent job and the side plays some good football but can he get the necessary winning results?
One win in the last couple of months despite playing well in nearly every game does not inspire confidence.

I know we have a ton of injuries, but does anyone else think not using fresh legs from the bench in the past couple of weeks is part of the reason we are not seeing games out?

Late goals against Tottenham, Man Utd, Liverpool and Bournemouth I really hope doesn’t cost us come end of the season.

Need to just get through this nightmare season, and have a serious investment in squad depth over the summer!

Roys in game management is f***ing dreadful, players clearly tired, team dropping deeper and deeper. Nothing.

A late substitution would taken the sting out of the game and it would not have mattered who came on, but to concede in the last couple minutes again is infuriating.

One other thing, there was no one on the back post when the corner came in, are we learning from all these mistakes I am not so sure?

I tend to think a substitution might have helped if only to lose time and break up play. We will never know if it would have prevented the goal. TFM has the same defensive faults as AWB and the same could have occurred. You could argue we were winning the game for 88 minutes with the same team so what trend was there in the game that would make you want to change?
The fact is however there is a trend of conceding goals in the last minutes of games whatever the quality of the opposition and you would have thought that this would have to be looked into by the management. We cannot afford to throw away points in this way in the remaining fixtures.
