Sausages taste good especially with egg and tomato sauce. Liver, Kidney, tripe and the like could be covered in the Virgin Mary's golden tears and still taste like the residue left behind in a tramps sleeping bag after months of him soiling himself in it. I don't recognize your description of offal at all and wonder if you've ever eaten it cooked properly and not boiled to death. In any event I would much rather eat a pig's liver or kidney than it's p**** and scrotum which had been minced up and included in sausages. EDIT I wonder why p e n i s is included in the swear filter Edited by Midlands Eagle (21 Mar 2018 10.11am)

Being an oldie and growing up in times of genuine austerity after WWII - not like now, snowflakes - my Mum woul cook up any offal she could get hold of. My favourite was pig's liver casserole, oven-cooked with root veg in a pot till it was crumbly. Nutricious, cheap and delicious, I still love it.

I don't agree that people who don't like offal are snowflakes. I grew up poor and so we had cheap food but my mother could never get me to eat offal. Its not snobbery or being squeamish I hate the smell the taste and most of all the texture. I can't explain it as I love black pudding and eat snails, mussels etc. It's a shame as people tell me I am missing out but there you go.

I have always loved liver and bacon with onion gravy and mash since Alexandra Primary school dinners, or maybe even White Horse manor infants, (Must admit I always gave away my "Cheese and Egg" pie to anyone who liked the foul stuff... South London's answer to Quiche Lorraine (not).

My wife doesn't like liver or kidney because of the texture which suits me as whenever we have steak and kidney pie she gives me all of the kidney. I think that it's quite common to dislike it on the basis of it's texture and none of us like all the same foods anyway. My bête noir is celery as I can't abide either the smell or taste of it and I recently read somewhere that coriander leaf divides the public into haters and lovers.

Going to look out for a luxury range liver and bacon because I can't remember the taste and can't be bothered to cook it and either over do it or it be a bit yuk after the real cooking effort.

I bought one from Sainsbury last week and didn't like it very much. The liver was fine but the cheap bacon didn't do it any favours. The worst thing that anyone can do to liver is to overcook it and it's the people cooking it for hours in a casserole that puts others off. I tend to cook the onions and bacon etc for an hour and then flash fry the liver and mix it in with the other bits for about five minutes
