I agree a Championship quality player, who may improve. If you believe he was bought "in case we get relegated", then you haven't been listening to a word Hodgson has been saying. Chapter and verse: [Link] I thought Soerloth would be just what we need against thugs like that lot we stuffed yesterday: a proper unit who could stand up physically to defenders who try to bully him. The games he's played in so far have been a testing introduction to PL football but he's looked OK. Put him up against some of the dross in the lower half of the table and their defences might struggle to deal with him. Edited by chateauferret (18 Mar 2018 1.22pm)

At the moment he does seem about championship standard but it’s a bit harsh to judge him with his lack of fitness and he will need time to adapt. I will reserve judgement until next season.

Sorloth played better than Benteke when in the centre. Quite funny to then see Benteke up’d his work rate playing along side him. Benteke was ok against the Field but with Sorloth not playing he was not the same. So with a bit more play time to build his speed up he will be fine. So i reckon Sorloth will be an great asset to the team next season and the rest of this season.

Amazing how someone can write a player off after what 5 games? Even if he doesn't displace Benteke from the starting 11 you can see that the competition has forced Benteke to up his workrate.

He's had four games so far which included Spurs, Man Utd and Chelsea as well as away to Everton. He only played in his usual position in one of those games in which he scored (albeit it was chalked off unfairly). He looked leggy against Chelsea, but given he's had to come straight in during our toughest run of fixtures means it is very hard to judge him, but he certainly didn't look out of place. I'll judge him in games like the one on Saturday and I'll also give him a lot longer than four games before I write him off. Personally I think he'll go on to be a good player for us whatever league we're in next season. Ray Lewington and Roy did a great job getting a winger (Sako) to perform as a striker, so imagine what they can do with a promising striker. And as someone else said, if you listen to what Roy had to say about the signing it was the one he was clearly excited by.

To be making judgements about Sorloth after a handful of games is ridiculous. He's young, just moved to a new country and new club, possibly lacking premier league level fitness etc. Not to mention the games were extremely tough with a depleted first team. Despite all that, Sorloth's performances have been encouraging IMO. I think we'll see more positives before the end of the season, but he won't be able to make a true judgement until next season after he's had a full pre-season.

'Championship Standard' ?? Very harsh to judge Sorloth on his first 4 very testing games. and Benteke's standard is ? We may soon find out. He will be lucky to get back into the Belgium squad.
