Maybe should’ve let him see the fa cup game out against Wigan after all isn’t this like the furthest the saints have got in the cup for a while ?

Sounds familiar that scenario for some reason.

Shows how difficult it is to bring someone in from outside the Prem.

They should go for a proven Premiership manager - like Pardew.

They’d already had that pleasure & learnt a lesson.

We’ve a few friends in Spain all of whom said he’d struggle in the PL & it seems they were right.

Perhaps they’ll get Silva in?

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

If they get relegated it serves them right for the way they treated Puel. And they wouldn't be in trouble if they'd kept him.

Koeman returns and delivers safety with ease..... I personally would have rather Pellegrino stayed in the job, as they have more than enough quality on paper- a new manager to impress will do their players good.
Plus the fact, if they recruit quickly, the new boss can have 10 days training under his belt before their next match....

Koeman has recently been appointed manager of The Netherlands.

Wouldn't be surprised if Marco Silva was appointed.Last season he won his first PL game in charge of Hull and a few games later included a 0-0 at Man Utd followed by a 2-0 Home win against Liverpool.Hull's Home record was good under him, losing only 2 in their last 3 games.

Maybe Mark Hughes interests Southampton.

Missed a fantastic opportunity for a cheesy Sunesque headline here. ‘Southampton Sans Pellegrino’

It’s never too late for a good headline!

So this season these managers all linked with Palace have been sacked.

Pellegrino
Hughes
Silva
FDB

I wanted Sean Dyche he is doing very well still I am happy with Roy. I think the above list just shows how difficult it is to pick a good manager.

I understand that Southampton have their 'Black Box' which contains detailed analysis of a plethora of managers/coaches in Europe and conduct rigourous interviews yet they appointed Puel and sacked him after a season and Pellegrino hasn't lasted a season.

But in the past they have appointed Pochettino and Koeman.

You’re only as good as your last appointment. Maybe they got lucky with Pottecino and Koeman. They treated Puel like they treated Adkins and this could finally be the bit of karma they deserve for doing that. It certainly takes the shine off of those appointments now anyway.
