If we are relegated, I would expect most of the first team to attract bidders and be sold. The parachute payments are very generous and should cover any who refuse to budge. Due to his injuries, Wickham could be the most problematic player to shift but even then I could see someone taking him on a season long lone. Obviously it's all guess work and hopefully irrelevant. If we go down, wickham could be a great player to get us back up, if fit of course!

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Some of the players they signed after they were relegated were Grant Hanley, Dwight Gayle, DeAndre Yedlin,Isaac Hayden,Mo Diame, Matt Ritchie,Daryl Murphy, Ciaran Clark. They of course went straight back up so a terrific job following such a player turnover.

Doesn’t Sky money give parachute payments to the relegated? I think some of our players would fly to pastures greener if we got relegated.

Wasn't AJ's contract renewed with a higher wage that he'd get at the likes of Everton? That was the added cost and calculated risk/gamble. I'd guess as well that most (I hope it is most) have relegation clauses, but I've a feeling some of the cream earners won't. Benteke and Sakho the most obvious. They left Liverpool being the biggest clue, then there's players with transfer fees so high it seems ridiculous that relegation is a possibility in a team they sign for so why would they (should they in the players' eyes) accept those terms? That is correct Rudi,Andrew had an agreement with SJ.

Indeed. Even SJ had some words of wisdom along the lines of,..."there are many ways to bankroll a football club. You can spunk big and hope it pays off (Like Blackburn), or you can take a methodical measured approach." SJ gambled his money on black,...and it came up red. Even with our owners lack of experience in football matters, I find it difficult to believe they would let players sign contracts for fixed wages, even if we got relegated.
