Did anyone see benteke put a half hearted attempt to get the ball near the end before it ran out of play. That to me was enough to say no more.

Think that’s harsh on Sörloth. He doesn’t have too much pace but he’s strong and large. He’s been thrown in at the deep end. Looked dead on his feet at the end of the game as most of them did. They gave their all. Couldn’t have asked for much more. Think he’ll improve and looking forward to seeing him develop.

I appreciate that completely and hope he goes on to make me eat my words and becomes a great player for us. But if tonight’s showing is anything to go on, he is nowhere good enough to lead the line for a Premier league club.

We're the Arthur over ere!

Gonna take time for him to get used to the physical side of the PL. Bet he has never had to put in shifts like he has done recently, in the Danish league.

It really not sensible to have two tall No.9's playing together.
Benteke was strong defending but did little else.
In fairness to Sorloth at least he tried to hold the ball up, not always successfuly, and this ability may have looked as if he was slow.
Let's face it, until we find a constructive midfield any striker we field will struggle.

That’s what allowed them to go up the other end and eventually score.

Far too early to be making any assumptions about whether he is good enough. Needs time to get up to speed with the PL and from what I have seen he will do just fine.

That’s why we lost. Enough of him. Let Sorloth play there; can’t do worse the goals scored & we actually might hold the Gallup a bit..

Haven't much from Sorloth to suggest he's any good yet. Seems to be terrible at shooting.

I'd give Sorloth some time. He is strong and confident on the ball, and when nobody is supporting him he holds up the ball well and looks up to assess his options. He was only dispossessed a couple of times tonight.

Yes we will need him to score goals and perhaps he will when he can play in a more central position.

I agree with your assessment of Sorloth.

I think the problem is he is pretty much the exact same type of player as Benteke, so having both on at the same time doesn't make sense to me. Of course we have no bench, so they have to be on at the same time.

Once we went up 2-0, Benteke/Sorloth were useless at helping maintain possession and taking pressure off our defense. That isn't their game.

We needed Zaha most in the second half of this match, to run the ball down field and take some time off the clock. He's great at that.
