WH

Wan Bissaka Kelly Tomkins PvA

Luka Riedewald

Townsend McArthur Rakip

Sørloth

I've been a supporter of Bentenke, but I don't think having both Bentenke and Sørloth on the pitch worked against Spurs as neither are great at defending and, let's face it, that's what we'll likely be doing for 89 minutes. Sørloth has looked the more mobile of the two and doesn't look completely drained of confidence (yet). If we drop a striker then maybe we can bring in a more creative midfielder, which is what Rakip was sold at (even though I haven't personally seen him play.

I wouldn't start both Kelly and Schlupp as that would be asking for trouble given our injury problems of late. Kelly has to start if fit, because Delaney is no longer up to it, it would appear.

Well, no matter how you arrange them, keeping this team in the PL with this squad is going to be a monumental task.

I mean come on!!

Kelly as starter? We were signalling on these forums a few months ago how poor Kelly was. If it's not Kelly it's Delaney or Jach, who hasn't been used at all.

An extremely young player at right back (just 1 match in the PL).

Riedewald as a starter.

McArthur as a side midfielder or attacking midfielder (he does well, kuddos to him, but it's not his position, he won't create many chances for others from there).

A striker who doesn't score.

Another 22 year old striker coming from the Denmark league who hasn't yet had a single goal in the PL, forced to play as left wing or a left wingback coming from a lengthy absence. Hmmm...tough choice )

Without Zaha, the only PL quality player is Townsend. Kuddos to Hennessey for having a good period lately too. But if Zaha doesn't come back faster, this team goes down. And with Zaha out in the summer if this happens, it's the end of an era. It won't climb out of the Championship for years to come, until another Zaha is born and makes history. Look at Sunderland or Leeds, you don't just bounce right back in the PL.

Matteo it may have escaped your notice but this is a thread about the team that we can select for the Utd match, with the players we have available. Nobody here says its that good or we have a chance of winning however it is what we have available. There are plenty of other threads on here for moaning about the depth of squad and injuries.

Depends whether Roy wants to stay with the more defensive format or not - if he wants someone who's going to push up the pitch a bit more, I'm sure Macca will start over Jairo.

Luka
Townsend
Sørloth
xxxxxxx
(whoever gives it a go and bleeds for his shirt. That excludes Benteke.) Roy H. must be sick of picking the big more or less static Belgian...

The team and bench looks thin but I think Roy will definitely go for experience at the back. We need to over run the midfield and go forward as one to support sorloth. We’ve had no threat going forward so our best bet is PVA, Schlup and Rakip linking up. Townsend as the other outlet with macca. Benteke needs a bolt of lightning up his overpaid ass so drop him for the young hungry Dane. I don’t believe all this we’re going down bull, we just need to find a way without Zaha. For me that’s over run the midfield and find some balance to the match day squad.

A RB who plays midfield or centre defence? A long term injury with no match fitness at LB. A very old CB up front with a LB and a very average squad player in lee? Are you a Man U fan or Brighton fan in disguise or very very drunk???

Not sure about Delaney, apart from that I think your line up looks about as good as we can expect.
