Why we failed to plan for the Premiership for most of the last 5 years is the main problem. Having no left backs and 1 striker, appointing Warnock and FDB are clear examples of this.

PL success is the preserve of the super rich.

Granted Leicester proved the exception on one occasion, but its returned to the status quo.

I follow the Championship myself as it is less insane.

It’s all well and good coming out and saying he’s planning for the championship but what about the two seasons previous where we’ve flirted with relegation he never once said that back then so why now when apparently we have one of the strongest teams we’ve ever had ?

because we didn't have the injury list we have this year and we had players up top scoring goals. last year Tekkers was scoring, the season before that and last year all pundits ever said was 'with those front three they'll always score'.

well that's changed now hasn't it, unlike previous seasons and its a little more worrying.

All Chairmen of big companies have a contingency plan, its standard practice.
We are a big company with a turnover in excess of £100m.
I would imagine the work force of 234, would be halved overnight.

how comes they have the foresight to plan for relegation but never think 'what if the manager leaves?' or 'what are we going to do about our lack of strikers and decent keepers?'

Whether it's prudent or not, he should keep comments like that to himself.
This has all the makings of a 'Ratner' moment.

If we are relegated it is the fault of the management and no one else.
Same story every year with this club so you could ask who is in charge?
Bringing in Frank D Boer was a huge mistake and it only shows that SP has been riding his luck for to many seasons now, and he will never learn.
So if we survive this year it will be no difference next year, unless something changes in management.

Totally agree Bert, would a boxer say, in the event of me losing ......

An incredibly cras public statement from our Chairman and if there was planning to be done and I am not saying that it shouldn't be part of the forward planning, should have been kept private.

Most people won't look beyond the headline statement.

CEO's should be planning for any eventuality.

It would have been better to either say that or say more specifically that he was planning for both the Premier League and possibly the Championship.

Nice timing, just as the Club are marketing season tickets for next year !

Steve P should study the progress of Hull and Sunderland, who are currently bottom, of the Championship after relegation from the PL last season.

Am sure it's just frustration, who can blame him.

No, as Chairman he should not let any frustrations result in comments such as he has just made as they will be leapt upon. Comments should be upbeat as he is the leader and one who has I am afraid failed to plan correctly by ongoing investment in the squad. Sorry but don't buy the frustration bit!
