If or when we are relegated, it will be his fault and his alone, he has allowed us to enter this current campaign with only one fit striker and with a manager that was on another planet, then he failed to deliver the six players Roy wanted in the last transfer window, last weekend showed how feeble we are, so much so that poor Roy had to put DD on for the last few minutes after Tomkins was taken off because he had no other option, even though he knows DD is too slow and well past his retirement date! Come on Steve man up and admit you are not up to your role as you see it! His fault alone - yer right, nothing to do with the players, supporters, managers, luck even the other 19 clubs in the league. It's all down to SP. And if we stay up? Even have a better season next year. Will that be solely down to SP too?

He’s already saved the club. Anyone disagreeing with that is struggling to grasp reality. He’s given us another 8 years(and counting of our football club), approaching 6 in the PL. If we crumble tomorrow then he will still be responsible for saving the club and giving no us that stay of execution. Respect where it is due pal. Edited by Brentmiester_General (27 Feb 2018 9.50am)

It doesn't matter how big your squad is, if you lose defenders like Dann, Sakho, Kelly & Tomkins to injury, your sixth choice is going to be a step down. SP is far from perfect, but I'm not sure he can be blamed for issues in the defense, where we do actually have cover, it's just that the cover has also got injured.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Benteke kept us up last season with his goals. Sakho? Go back and read the threads from over the summer, the overwhelming majority of people on here wanted that deal to happen, and were annoyed that we were haggling over the price. FDB, yep he was a mistake, and one that was rectified about as quickly as possible.

Perhaps it’s just coincidence but things seem to have been going wrong since the American investors came in.

FdB, Benteke, Sakho, Wickham etc etc. FdB it seems was a mistake, but Bentenke had a good first season and his goals played a big part in keeping us up, Sakho was a beast last season and pretty much everyone wanted him back, while Wickham was showing some really good form just before his injury and was not awful before that. Add to that signings like Dann, Tomkins, Luka, Cabaye and McArthur. You can't say all the bad ones are SP's fault and all the good ones are the manager's. Also, he was the one who fought to get Zaha back, maybe even to the point of pushing Pulis out. Would anyone rather have Pulis than Zaha? I know I wouldn't. I agree that it would appear there is something not right with the way we are managing the transfer windows and I also would hazard a guess that some of Roy's predecessors may have wanted more control over transfers and that's why they left. He has not been perfect, but in my time supporting Palace I would say he's been our best chairman and I would definitely have him over Russian mafia, Saudi blood money, Chicken dealers or the fat, unpopular bloke at Newcastle. Some people just seem to want a scapegoat to get angry at when results don't go our way and I get that and I just hope SP and the club can see it is just frustration too, plus as a fan I'm sure he is just as frustrated.

As I said further down, luck plays a huge part and with so many players currently injured SP’s luck has run out through injury.
