9 goals in a pony West Brom team. Would do a turn for us.

You're really reaching here. 9 goals if you count those against Exeter and Accrington. Are those even professional league teams? Those matches are worth less than a training session.

Also, he's played a lot of time- 2250 minutes in the PL only. Counting that 1 PL goal was a penalty (against Arsenal), he basically has 4 goals and 1 assist and 2 more goals in the Cup against Liverpool (his sole awesome match this season).

So, on March the 18th (today) he has contributed with 6 goals and 2 assists in 2450 minutes agains PL teams this season. That's 1 in 300 minutes, a really bad number for a PL striker.

But I see that I can't change your mind. You like the player and that's what it is. But my impression is that West Brom is not a bad team because Jay Rodriguez doesn't have players to pass him good balls, rather that it's bad because he, as well as others, are not good enough for the PL level. After all, last year Mat Phillips and Chadli weren't so bad up front, they have some solid defenders, they also brought a good left back this year, who crosses well for the strikers (Gibbs).

You could say the same about Benteke and Villa.

Crikey Matteo, that is deep!!

Cantona would have been proud of that one.

I may be high on the success of Wan-Bissaka, but I really feel that we need to be taking a long-term view of the squad.

It is fine to be signing a few players on the cusp of being aged, if they can do a job for us now. But in my view, we need to be looking at some younger players who are going to appreciate in value - I think Matteo listed some really promising prospects in a separate thread - but if we were going to trawl over the bones of relegated sides then I would prefer to see us go for Oliver Burke.

Personally, I think the key is signing up the majority of the players who are out of contract in the summer, keeping Zaha and Benteke, trying to get Wickham back to full fitness and bringing in a smattering of younger players - either from the academy or from elsewhere.

Stability and succession - has to be the key.

I don’t think he’s a world beater, but looks decent whenever I’ve seen him. He controlled the ball first time yesterday and kicked it in the other teams goal, which I don’t see often at Palace.
I don’t check all the stats, they said he’d scored 9 goals on motd, assumes they were premier league goals.

If not Rodriguez, then who would you sign? Enthrall us with your acumen.

I don’t take the blindest bit of notice of any ‘oracles’ on here, otherwise they would have told us how good Wan- Bissaka was when all the names (from FIFA or FM ) were being trotted out in January.
In my personal opinion Rodriguez is not a bad shout and a couple of years ago I thought he could do a turn for us up top. Not sure now if he’s that much better than what we’ve got - although when Wickhams back we may need another, different, option and he could fit the bill from the bench, with the odd start to tactically change.

Great crosser, if we are looking for decent service not a bad shout. In relation to strikers, if we keep everybody, need something different, a nippy finisher in my opinion.

Agreed, Matt Phillips would be alright indeed.

I'd rather we go for Salomon London than Rodriguez. What has also happened to Robson-Kanu this season?
