I've heard about it, purely in the context of opposition to 'stop and search'...

if you live far from London you may find these statistics shocking.

Quite. The atmosphere is poor. That said I have just been threatened for being rude by a Coventry fan.... on a train into London.

Well 5 of them were on New Year's day, so the stats had a bad head start. Maybe the media and social media should focus less on saying how unfair stop and search is and more on why it is targeted to certain groups. Take those 13 deaths you mention, I wonder how many are of them are from the group who feel they are overtly targeted for stop and search? I think most of these are related to gangs and most gangs in London are black boys.

It's the same premise as airport security who feel it necessary to stop grey haired old ladies in their 60s to take off their shoes but **cough** let other more obvious suspects waltz through unhindered for fear of offending.

Sadiq Khan's London where crime is up in virtually every category. 1,000 police officers cut by Westminster but he wants to spend £6m on toilets for bus drivers!

So delicately put Katie Hopkins was roundly decried a few months ago for saying that "if black lives matter so much why do they keep stabbing and killing each other" I'm no fan of Katie Hopkins but I did agree with that statement

I flew to the US a few years back with my brother in law, who is of African descent, and the amount of times he got picked (and I didn't) for a "random" check on both sides of the journey became a huge source of amusement.

What I think needs to be understood is that knife crime is not unique to London and that a model already exists for how to tackle it. Glasgow used to have a terrible reputation for knife crime but by treating the problem as one of a public health crisis, rather than just purely criminal, it dramatically reduced it. But white working class boys stabbing each other to death for the most puerile of reasons does not carry with it the same political machinations as black boys. And that is the nub of this. The Left want to brush it under the carpet and the Right leave well alone because its not worth the grief that gets heaped upon them and its not their side of electorate dying on streets in s***ty parts of London. These black boys are being allowed to carry on stabbing each other to death because nobody with any power to stop it actually wants to muddy their hands. No promotion ladders beckoning, only potential snakes to slide down. But its a sick game, what ever way you look upon it.

Of course, allowing cultures known for gang violence and gun and knife crime to settle here might have been a mistake.
