mobile operators do not like pre pay customers they will make life difficult.

Orange - Tmobile = EE owned by BT

They operate separate so you will still be on orange network and their terms but if you upgrade to 4g you will be switched to EE (they don't really like people still stuck on old system)

You really should look around and switch even if it is to just 4g tariff

I was paying £15 a month PAYG
On contract now
New handset more calls texts and data
Extra £4 a month and you keep the same number if you want.
That was on EE so not sure about other networks
Definitely look into it matey

Thanks, Grumpy Mort,

I have had the cell phone for a few years now and it has been as much as I need. I have a good Mac at home and don't feel the need to be in constant touch with whatever most of the population seem to be staring at on their iphones.

I very much realise that you are being helpful but much of your terminology is beyond me. I do appreciate your well-intended advice.

In my ignorance I am not sure of what "4g tariff" even means.

Cheers Jamesey

I have a broadband deal with BT so they gave me a £5 pm mobile contract. 400mins, unlimted texts and 750mb

I am not a heavy user so this was fine. Bought a new phone from Carphone Warehouse and they said that they do a similar deal so you might want to check with them.

4G is a higher speed system than the old fashioned 3G but if you don't use your phone for surfing the net it probably won't make any difference to you.

He may even be on 2g.

people think 4g is only about high speed internet it's not it has improvements over call quality and a lot of the 4g tariffs have better roaming terms even if it downgrades in your area to 3g.
