Why would Benfica sign the guy, then immediately sell him to another club without even looking at him? We are doing Benfica a favour just like Man U and Chelsea by developing their players then sending them back. A fine short term plan but hardly long term thinking to have 3 first teamers on loan and leaving end of the year, which we would have if this guy turned out be good and RLC didn’t get injured. They think he's a decent player but perhaps not decent enough to really challenge what is a very talented team. They pick up said decent player for free and loan him to us asap. We pick up a player who we can give some minutes to. If we like him, we buy him, they've made money from literally nothing. If not, he goes back and they still have a player they can either sell or who decides to do all he can to challenge the first team.

The only impressive goals in that video were the ones at the 1 minute mark, 2 minute mark, 2:20 minute mark and 3:20 minute mark. He wasn't a costly option this winter, but he's certainly not a certain win. We'll see how this goes Are Central Midfielders not allowed to score goals then?

They could all be Steve Claridge specials off the butt, chest, face, knee etc. We have the talent to score we just seem to lack that bit of creativity that makes all the difference. Maybe this lad can help when Cabaye is knackered?

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

How could a fee be agreed if a "longer stay" hasn't been discussed? I think you're misunderstanding what a future buy option is in a loan arrangement. Its a term in the contact essentially meaning that at the end of the loan deal we have first refusal on a pre-arranged price for the player. It can quite easily have been negotiated by the relevant parties without a longer stay being discussed with Roy at this moment in time. It's just a clause, but it's a clause any negotiating team worth their salt should always at least attempt to get. Edited by Mstrobez (04 Feb 2018 9.25am)

Besides one powerful strike from 30 yards away, he hasn't scored a goal from central midfield in all of his career (not long, but still, including youth level). At Premier League level, players are brought because they have shown certain qualities on a position. Rekip's best position was right midfielder. But not rampaging, just decent for his age. If he was converted into a central midfielder and will play this position for us, will he end up in the same positions as in the video above to score goals from the right?

I think when he's picked or brought on it will be in right midfield, as he doesn't look big and tough enough for centre mid in a 442. However, to say he can't score from centre mid based on watching a few YouTube clips seems a reach. He looks like a poor man's David Silva to me (which would be amazing) based on the limited videos and training videos available. I have never seen him in a 90 minute game though, so that makes me about as knowledgeable as anyone else with access to YouTube and an active imagination.

Always hard to judge a players full game from youtube highlights. Doesn't show what he does when not in possession and hard to compare as he is against much lower opposition than in the Prem. However, he looks to have good technical ability with the ball at his feet and a low center of gravity. Similar in style (though not ability) as Silva (as mentioned by previous poster) or Messi. Has a good strike on him too which is helped by his technical ability as he does not need a `big windup` to hit a shot. This swiftness of thought and foot will serve him well in the fast paced, quckly closed down Premiership.

Not on the bench. Is he not match fit? When can we see him play? 12 matches left...
