Brilliant work by the OP. Just shows the succession of very mixed bags we've had in only 6 years. The Bolasie / Ward / Delaney window plus the return of The Wilf stand out. Not unhappy with our business this time around, including the new keeper in the summer. We are staying up. Edited by Mr_Gristle (01 Feb 2018 6.21pm)
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Great post by the OP. Shows just how much deadwood we've bought. Hopefully now we're becoming more established we won't have so many misses. Ofcourse we're still gonna have some but I'd say the latest three windows on the list have far more consistency than many of the others. Hopefully we'll look back on Jan 18 as also being decent.

They are a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment.

Great post OP. What I find interesting is the biggest names on paper are from 16/17 season as a whole, & yet they expose more than any season the absolute ineptitude of our scouting network. Of course we had a few hits, but if you actually consider the amount we spent last season for a club of our size, it's utterly staggering. When you spend that type of money, a good measure of how well you've resourced your talent is not whether or not we got a few decent players but how much value for money they provided and, as a matter of fact, it was very little whatsoever with little to no resale value. I can't be the only one who fears whilst Parish is at the helm this will be a never ending repeat of history. Dougie had one season where he worked wonders but hiring him just seems more and more like a sentimental, living in the past decision. The idea that we should view signing a bunch of players of nationalities & from leagues that have never been renowned for producing world beaters, with their own fans barely even rating the players themselves for under 10mil as some sort of progressive transfer strategy is fantasy in my opinion. Edited by StrangerThing (02 Feb 2018 8.05am) Has to be Summer 12/13 when we were absolutely skint. Ward, Yala, Rambo, Damo, Moritz, Wilbrahamovic all cost peanuts and were all instrumental in a promotion season when the bookies had us 3rd favourites for relegation at the start!

Summer 12/13 set us up with some vital players for the promotion push; Winter 13/14 and 16/17 were vital windows for our survival. Also, winter 12/13 was Holloway, not Freedman (hence Kevin Phillips)
