Which aren't on Sky channels and you don't need Sky to watch them. They're on UK TV channels, which are 50% BBC owned.

Buy the best freeview solution you can afford and just have the fastest Internet you can get.

The monthly subscriptions.....essentially too high because...amongst other things you are paying for the over priced wages of top bracket sports stars and its supporting industry....it doesn't amount to a good deal.

I have a Humax FVP-5000T 2Tb and if I want to watch sport or movies.....lets just say there are many possible solutions.

I recall the days when I had Cable Television - I really cannot remember if Satellite dishes were around at that time.

On a Friday night on Cable TV there used to be a Palace program and I think Terry Byfield was on it - long time ago and I am 66 this year so my memory might be playing tricks ! What I do recall is Pete King who used to be in the Publications Department at the club - each week he was asked for a prediction and no matter who we were playing it was always "Three points" !

That was Croydon cable then Telewest's local channel, didn't the guy who sometimes does touring cars on ITV interview him?

Other channels included the weather channel and the landscape channel.

There was a chap called 'Stuart Miles' who progressed from this Cable TV to National TV - I have a feeling he became a 'Blue Peter' presenter.

Regards Pete King I think he was one of those made redundant on account of Administration and retired to somewhere in Kent.

So the BBC are buying into channels using public money and receiving money from advertising then.

I think in the near future you will not even use a landline. I expect that mobile communication is progressing to the point it will eliminate it.

I got rid of my landline in July '15. It's one of the best moves I've ever made.

All my WiFi is delivered by a credit card sized 4G router. And when I travel, it comes with me. Brilliant.

Just out of interest do you know what speed you normally get? are you capped on usage? and if I may really be nosy how much does it cost monthly? I am asking as my BT deal is up in March.

I pay £60pm for BT:
- TV (no sport or films)
- Landline phone which I hardly use
- Mobile phone.
- Unlimited broadband at 75Mbs (I don't need that speed 10Mbs would be fine)

that was the singular most amatuerish programme ever on air, absolutely hilarious. Had Debbie someone on it for a while, she then went to the heady heights of QVC....back in the day of the BskyB squarial too lol
