The traditional recitation of Burn's Ode to the Haggis will be declaimed after it has been piped in and before consumption - you probably won't understand a word, but if you nod a lot and smile sagely you might get away with them thinking you do..... Had to endure one of these nights whilst working abroad. Agree about the poem but just make sure you have copious amount of drink beforehand and it is tolerable (just)

It's a load of old madam, but it's alright. Take some Irn-Bru for the host before they change the recipe. Scotland are losing their s*** about that.

The weather is permanently sh1t in Scotland, they don't particularly like us and they celebrate our losses and failures in sport, albeit some are alright. No thanks.

Yeah but by the morning you could potentially have the pleasure of telling them that Andy Murray is no longer Britain's number 1 tennis player!

I believe Haggis is banned in the USA (something to with the sheep's stomach apparently) although I do remember a few years ago when they were promoting The annual Tartan Day Parade here in NYC & there was a small stand set up by the Ed Sullivan Theater giving away a Haggis made with an artificial (non sheep stomach alternative) that parade at its peakof popularity would get a healthy 30K participating Its now down to 5K or so
