I think it will only happen if RLC goes back to Chelsea to free up loan space and wages. Benteke wants to join Chelsea and that is not a given as he will not be first choice. Then Batshuayi would join on loan with a right to buy

I'd do the swap if they include RLC in the deal. They can have Mutch as well to clean boots or make tea or something.

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Benteke would hope to be in Belgium squad that would possibly depend on if he is playing First team football. Hence I am not sure he will want it. Batshuayi Chelsea in response to other clubs have said they want a replacement before considering Loan. We will not let Benteke go without replacement and Batshuayi is not proven in many ways so for us a loan for us makes good sense. I think Chelsea would sell for right money and in January I am not sure we have money so a right to buy suits everyone. We can't loan without a loan place being freed hence suggestion RLC going back. We will not buy with his current injury and Chelsea would probably like to manage injury

Batshuayi looks like Zaha's twin brother, but nowhere near skillwise. Only hope we don't depend on Benteke for goals rest of the season.....

That’s like replacing Ena Sharples with Hilda Ogden.

And he's contributed to a lot of goals this year, though he has hardly been sent on the pitch. The OP's question has a no-brainer answer. Obviously, Batshuayi will be a class football player for 6-7 years to come.

CB started the move on the halfway line with excellent skill.

24 yo vs 27 yo What are we talking about? Beneteke is having a bad season, everyone knows that. He is, however, a proven Premier league striker more than capable of scoring double figures and regardless of whether he is scoring or not he is quite pivotal to the way we play. He has scored the majority of his goals playing for a team fighting relegation or lower down the table with players around him that are nowhere near the ilk of the Chelsea team. I am not sure that Batshuayi would be able to do the job Benteke does for us, he is a different type of striker and we have tried that many times and almost always revert back to a target man. People call Benteke lazy but I don't really think he is, his problem is the pricetag over his head. When he was out the team we had a couple of decent games with Andros and Wilf up top but that got quickly found out and left us very wanting with creativity when it was. He lacks confidence big time at the moment, key is the miss against Arsenal one on one, look back to the game against Chelsea last season where he had a much harder chance but because he was scoring he calmly lifted it over the keeper. We need options to challenge him and give us the ability to mix it up but I don't think getting rid of him is the answer, especially a swap for a player who really is still pretty inexperienced in this league. Rashford banged them in for fun when he first got in the Utd. side but it's not been the same since. 'one swallow doesn't make a summer'.. Benteke has hit double figures every season bar the season with Liverpool which he got 9 and mainly off the bench, I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Matteo: this is what we are talking about... summed up very well. Maybe watching on TV you don't see everything regarding his contribution. Don't get me wrong he is not having a good season but he does contribute.
