What we could call its post modernist Marxist version.....an attack on the belief that modern society favours men over women and is patriarchal....for example, the wage gap argument framed as being the fault of men. The belief that gender behaviours are social constructs and not genetically based.....as seen in the Damore sacking and just filed lawsuit. The attack on masculinity as something that men should be ashamed of......Peterson's popularity is in part in response to this.

Exactly, it's third-wave feminism which is the problem.

There a lot of very valid reasons why the gender pay gap exists but that is not just what these ‘problem’ feminists are standing up for. You see causal and inbuilt sexism so many times over in your average week - it really doesn’t surprise me that so many women are exhausted by it and make a stand for it. I honestly struggle to comprehend why people can’t see equal gender opportunity as something to strive towards; other than protecting your own lot.

I have never known women to be paid less than men from my experience. Now I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I have worked in the construction Industry, the restaurant & pub Industry amongst others & women have always been paid the same as men FACT !!

I honestly struggle to comprehend why people can’t see equal gender opportunity as something to strive towards; other than protecting your own lot. You see you talk about a society that has 'causal and inbuilt sexism'....prove it. I fundamentally disagree with the 'sexism' lens that you are looking through as harmful in general society. 'Equal gender opportunity'? Bah.....This already exists on a practical level. What matters is meritocracy. If you are good enough it doesn't matter what your gender is....sexism...bah...The conversative party...who are frequently called sexist have had two female leaders....The criticism is cover for other post modernist motives. What is being pushed for are issues like equal pay and equality of outcome....just as per the Peterson/Newman conversation shows.......it's not about fairness it's about ideology. The real success of feminism was to give women choice....that was a breakthrough most people can celebrate.....but third wave feminism wants to change the nature of the professions they enter....but only male dominated ones that they want success in regardless of meritocracy.....As the Peterson/Newman conversation shows they want to change the nature of those professions. Women dominate many industries already.....the industries that they are interested in. They don't enter other industries in the same numbers as men for several different reasons.....All of that is fine....what matters is choice. All that matters is that the individual is treated fairly according to their abilities in relation to the job. What lies between their legs should make a difference if it relates to the demands of the job....for example, a front line soldier needs to be strong enough to carry another soldier off the battlefield....otherwise you are lowering the quality of your fighting force. Third wave feminists aren't interested in 'equal gender opportunity'......that's a very innocent way of looking at it....how many third wave feminists want equal gender opportunities to work as sewage or rubbish collectors? They don't.....this is about money and power when it should be about meritocracy and common sense.

I have read the BBC report on the FT reporter being groped. I do not expect to learn the percentage (within the hostess team) of female reporters who did research at the event. I wonder how Sir Bruce would have used that information on "Play your Cards Right"

Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Jan 2018 9.49am) No. It appears that they were taking advantage of hired workers. I doubt they were hired to be escorts, although I wasn't invited to work there so haven't seen the spec. Do you think it's acceptable for men who want to fck attractive women they meet at a workplace to grope / harass them without an explicit invitation from the woman to do so? Rejecting these attitudes isn't feminism. It's simply decent human behaviour.
