couldnt have happened to a nice company has the pleasure of having carillion as my FM team when in the prison service & they were a shambles, took them over a year to do simple things like fixing freezers as they never paid their bills. got told this was happening 4 months ago, im just suprised it took so long.

Management over stretching the company and poor payment from Middle East contracts eroding cash flow appear to have done most of the damage. Carillion would have had to make guarantees about their financial stability when entering into tenders for contracts and these would, in all probability, would have to backed up with statements or guarantees from banks or credit rating agencies. If Carillion satisfied these items of a tender with credible evidence, why is Grayling to blame? Your statement appears politically driven rather than a fair assessment of the situation.

I'd be amazed if they were still going in 6 months, staff morale very low, people leaving left, right and centre, they don't have a pot to pis5 in either.

At least the chief execs going to pick up his £660 k salary, and paid till October, maybe he could put some in the pot for the people not being paid,,,

I hope youre right mate, but knowing how life works I doubt it, bit like companies folding with massive debts and opening up the next day under a different name, but, hope youre right all the same!

I was listening to the Radio 5 phone in this morning and they were discussing how the demise of Carillion would affect the thousands of small businesses that supplied them. Not one of the people that telephoned saying that they had lost tens or hundreds of thousands in the liquidation mentioned credit insurance which surprised me. Surely any business that had all of it's eggs in one basket should insure their debts to make sure that the demise of their customer doesn't mean the demise of themselves too

Also wonder how many people will now be claiming off the PPI claims companies for not having payment protection insurance for their mortgages because they were mis-sold their mis-selling claim.
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
