I'll take a James McArthur over a Jose Campana any day of the week.

I agree some would cost £10+m. Especially dembele or other European superstars. But there is a lot of youngsters that I’m sure can be bought after a loan spell to us. Like rlc would have been a good shout as he has a lot of potential and is not worth an arm and a leg.

In terms of Academies, I believe 15 PL clubs have a 'Category 1' academy but we are not one of them. We have a 'Category 2' academy.

Which is why we need to seek out potential from other teams and let the fruition come under our wings.

One thing FdB did really good for us was getting Riedwald. Proving to be a quality player.

If there is anything frank did. Is bring some solid signings and loans in the club.

We have one.

And a crap one it is right now.

Name the last player to come out of it and play more than 10 games for us?

Jonathan Williams in 2011. Before that, Zaha in 2010.

So the original poster is on the money. Chelsea get criticism but they loan out between 40-50 players a year. If they average £1m a player in fees then you can work out how much income that generates.

Remember we paid £1m to Blackpool for Tom Ince for 4 months!

RLC will cost us at least £20m! Barkley cost Chelsea £15m because his contract expires in 3 months time, RLC has 4 years left on his contract and his value increases the more he plays for us.

Barkley was a long-term injury and hasn't played this season.

FdB made 1 signing. Not a criticism of him, he wasn't given the funds to be a success. I said at the time he'd need 3 good windows to build a team he needed.

Only one permanent signing perhaps but Timothy F-M made it plain that he came here due to the Dutch connection and I would guess that RLC also came to play the FdB style of footie

Not doubting that just clarifying permanent signings under FdB were singular not plural as stated.

I should've been more clearer. Yes 1 signing. I meant in general solid players were brought in. Plus we were linked with potential players. I think it is the same with Roy, there is no way he can do much with what we've got. As much as people were shocked that he said we need to sign 6-7 players this window. It was not far from the truth.

I guess depends how much he is needed by chelsea. RLC proved himself to be a first team player. Which like you said, would raise the price on his head. That is not to say that there isn't any other midfielders or youngsters with potential that we can sign.

It's all about a return at the end of the day. I rather sign 10 young prospects for couple of mil, and straight away loan them out if they are not 100% ready to be part of the first team. It would bring some money in at least. Look at Williams, I don't recall he ever played for Palace. Always is loaned out to some Championship side.

If we can't produce the youngsters. Let's buy them.

Two of which would have been in the Championship.
