I think Dyche has done a great job at a club with limited resources like us, albeit a club with a glorious tradition (unlike us). Like all managers outside the very rich clubs, he has to make the best of the player resources he has. There is no reason to think that he would use the same tactics if he came to Palace as we have better attacking players.

So far this season they have been on the right end of the bounce. A lot of one goal wins and other teams not converting chances. You only have to look at the game at Turf Moor where we a) presented them with a gift of a goal and then b) missed from two yards out. They are now coming back to the pack a bit. I didn't think they were particularly good yesterday, and they got back in the game because Sako tired, Luka and Jimmy Mac started giving the ball away cheaply and Wilf had a bit of an off day so we struggled to keep the ball in the second half. Oh, and we'd wasted a number of good chances. In terms of Dyche and his setup, I'd be very worried about his management style, both in terms of his man management and his tactics having much of a shelf life. The system of forfeits and the reluctance to look for players outside of the UK in case personalities don't fit in puts yourself under pressure a lot and can go sour pretty quickly if you have a bad run and the mood in the squad changes a bit. Tactically, the biggest warning sign to me was the absolutely suicidal way they set up in that first half yesterday. They defended with an unbelievably high line, considering that we had Sako and Wilf running in behind. I have absolutely no idea what he was trying to do by effectively giving us a third of the pitch to put the ball into, with a forward line that was clearly going to win most foot races.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

So what happened to Brighton then, if that's the case? Plus that theory can't possibly explain our loss at home to Huddersfield on day one can it? You're not seriously suggesting that the fixture list is more important than the quality of the management and the squad are you? No, I am not suggesting that the fixture list is more important than the management and the squad, but I am saying that the fixture list is a significant factor that is often overlooked by fans and pundits. When the standard of the management and squads of the also-ran teams is so similar, the fixture list can become a more critical factor in the difference between the form and league position of those also-rans. Sam Allardyce was hailed as a god when Everton's form improved, now they are losing to sides they lost in the first 10 games, he is back to criticising his players. Palace's results against the teams we lost to have improved, Everton's have stayed the same. Dare I suggest that Roy Hodgson is a better manager than Sam Allardyce? To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what happened to Brighton. As a Palace fan I have not been focusing on Brigton's fortunes, other than to note that we are now above them in the league, which is where I expect us to stay for the rest of the season. As for Palace busting a gut to appoint Sean Dyche, IMHO Burnley are welcome to him. There is no doubt that he is getting the best from the players he has at his disposal, but like Allardyce and Pulis, I am not willing to spend a lot of money watching the standard of football he favours. How can people say "Sean Dyche is nailed on to be our next manager". I wouldnt be overly happy with him in charge, Burnley had a great start but will now start slipping back down the table. If they get a couple more injuries to defenders they will be on a downward spiral. I pray to god that we have Roy in charge for 5 more years and I dont see why not. He has ys playing absolutey brilliantly, Solid in defence and great in attack. The man was never low in my estimations but he is as good as any manager in this division.

Dyche is quite right. I'd go so far as to say that if they'd scored more goals than us, they would have won! Originally posted by YT
