Bit hard to comment when we don't know the full details. That won't stop me. On face value, a person who uses this board as a party political broadcast has been banned and the only surprise for me is that it took that long. A handful of others who share his politcs have thrown a flounce about it, some of whom have now gone off to the BBS to whine on playing the victim just like they did on here. It's a pity that Jamie has resigned because his contributions were always eloquent, intelligent and often informative but he also betrayed his bias in moderating by allowing certain posters to get away with murder. I hope he continues to post on here in the future when the dust settles. This site is run a lot better than the BBS and I have no criticism except for the rather clunky style of the threads.

Talk about over-reaction... This has happened loads on here over the near 20 years, it's nothing new! People get banned and others decide to flounce and stop posting... it's what happens on forums all over the internet. Flouncing is pretty pathetic to be honest! Anyway, the website policy has ALWAYS been that cards are never discussed on the forum. Now some mischievous posters, who are friends of a banned poster, have decided to stir the pot and start these threads. They have been rightly deleted. Now if anyone genuinely has a concern, then there is a 'contact us' and a private message function to discuss in private with the administrators. Funny how these people have chosen not to go down this route? Quite a stretch, to say the least, that I would consider the user you refer to as a friend! My point in posting here is not solely to highlight one particular issue: I firstly suggested that there be an internal review (as we now live in the age of "action-replay" and post-event review of decisions made) of red cards issued in the past few days. I then suggested a slightly more granular approach to censure on here. Now, I could indeed have PM'd this to the administrators, but I'd prefer to understand if this was something that the userbase would find value in. I don't see any harm in soliciting them for their thoughts, or indeed finding out if they have any other suggestions that might improve the user experience of the site. I often find myself in a "software development and maintenance mode". Having a set of features I might want to implement, from the perspective of end-users would be pretty valuable IMO.

I perhaps would have agreed, but there's no way back now after hearing that he is currently grassing this website up to various authorities.

Perhaps the problem is because no one, mods excepted, know the reasons why a red card is given? Someone breaks the law - you can find out why. Someone gets sent off - you know why. It seems strange that the mods won't be so open.

FREE the 'Gusset' 2(or is it 3/maybe 4) I miss 'CUCKING' . . . . Agree with PE, things have certainly changed(& not always for the better) on HOL. New posters joining, 'plastics', old posters leaving & FLOUNCES! What ever happened to the good old fashioned flounce? When was the last one? Who was the best? Who was the worst?.....Who cares?
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Edited by Penge Eagle (09 Jan 2018 4.22pm) I started a thread which more or less stated this last night but it got deleted in about 5 minutes and after one response. I think the truth is hurting someone.

Save Nick? Right now he is over on the BBS stirring up trouble, which is what he does best.

Maybe over time if bridges are rebuilt old posters can come back. We have had many great posters on both sides of the political divide crash and burn or just disappear off the site over the years. I remember joining in early 2009 and I can hardly remember anyone then who is still regularly posting....however if you were and from then....stick a post up. I liked SE25, a very reasonable and sensible left winger and was upset with those celebrating when Bubble went.....though what he did deserved the apology he later issued on bbs....mistakenly giving the bbc what they were looking for...a stick to beat us with. But a good poster nevertheless. Anyway onwards and upwards....up the table and up the rather good looking neighbour who has just moved in.....that I have absolutely no chance with.
