It was meant slightly tongue-in-cheek Alan, after the OP's article had said about Roy looking to sign 6 or 7.
We never seem to sign anyone until 2 days before deadline day, so no way will it be 6 or 7.
I expect a maximum of 3 with SP lamenting afterwards about how difficult it is to get deals over the line on deadline day.
We could do with players that at least are going to compete for first team places, including 2 strikers. But what we need and what we get are sometimes different things.

I know FM.
We might do 3.
What I’m saying is that we need signings like last January when all 4 players went into the first 11.
EG Luka and Mamadou.
Need him back fit.

Who is exactly going to be released to free up this amount of signings ? I expect 3-4 maximum.

On the basis of last night's performance I'd increase that to ten or eleven.

In all seriousness if 6 who do u think they will be? Secondly who would u want them to be?

I think;

Guaita (the getafe keeper)
Origi (the trial keeper)
Steven caulker (till end of season)
Shane long
Niasse
Colback
Amahdou

Nobody needs to be released you just have to name 25 over 25 years old contracted players.
Possibly Lee,Mutch,Kai Kai might move on but will probably see out there contracts.

My only worry is that if true, then it might "water down" our targets.
So as opposed to getting 2 or 3 really good players for the first team, we will get 6 / 7 "squad players" as cover for our injuries, that watford strikers as opposed to Dembele and so on.

7 is excessive. 3 is the minimum in my opinion. 1xGK, 1xCB (short term contract if possible) and 1 CF.

Would rather we get some quality in to improve the starting 11 and spend a little more on these players rather than on average squad players.

Our depth isn’t too bad. We’ll field a strong 11 against Burnley despite all our injury’s.

We have a lot of players out of contract this summer, so it may be considered that even if we don't trim the fat this window we can dump some players in the summer anyway. Staying in the PL is paramount to the club's progression, so I think the wallet will be prised open.

Our squad depth is the problem, our first choice 11 is decent, the squad is painfully thin and has been for a while now.
