As has been said, we were linked with him before. He used us as leverage to get his move to Chelsea. He obviously thought he was too good for us then, so feck him. He's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. To be honest Martin,I'm not sure we were unwilling participants in these shenanigans. I cant recall the history, but I seem to remember we got some kick-back? For me, I'm not wholly convinced he would be good value for the money they would want.

Fair enough things haven't exactly worked out as planned, but I can hardly begrudge a player for picking Chelsea over Palace. I would take him every single day of the week. But I just hope we don't spend an amount in January that means we sabotage any progression plans next season and have to scrape the barrel all summer again, then blame whoevers in charge at the time that a team assembled specifically to fight relegation, seem to be heading down the exact same path as prior years. Aren’t the majority unhappy with bentekes work rate ? This guy is just as bad without the aerial threat , although he seems a natural goal scorer.

I'm going to go against the grain and say "jury's still out" on him at this level. What would he be like week in and week out for 90 minutes, in a team not packed with the highest-quality players? For the undoubted price tag and wages, I'm not convinced. Edited by Mr_Gristle (03 Jan 2018 7.24pm)
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Virtually a goal a game and two in the champions League says he is certainly capable at any level.
Let's keep the ball this season! |

Wouldn't be surprised if we got him on loan, by returning an improved RLC to Chelski. RLC has missed the last couple of games without any clear messages about being injured etc., so are we preparing to return him? I'd rather keep him, but central midfield isn't exactly a problem area at the moment. He's tended to be used more wide, but Roy seems to be moving more toward a 433 using Zaha and Townsend wide again, but even if he went to 442 he could play Batshuayi up top with CB, and keep Zaha and Townsend wider. Just think RLC might be more 'disposable' than TFM after the last few games.

Totally agree. He joined Chelsea over us.. are we really holding that against him? I believe he would be perfect for us. Would love to see him as a two with Benteke. Definitely the 'type' we need imo.

I wouldnt pay over £20 for him, theres a reason chelsea want to get rid and its cos hes not that good, and they overpaid, but could be a link up with benteke so not a bad buy,,,for £20m! But Chelsea got rid of Lukaku, who then went to score roughly 1 in 2 for WBA, Everton and now Man U. They may have overpaid and he's not the finished article, but Chelsea's keenness to let him go shouldn't be a mark against him. Originally posted by silvertop
